Cadets - West Point -1884 - Putnam

The cadetship examinations were held in our HS building on Thursday. There will be one cadet selected for West Point and one for Annapolis. There were six candidates for West Point as follows: CW Phulpitt of Monroe County, 17; Floy Owens, Johnson County 18; David G. Spurgin, Putnam 17; Charles W. Mann, Putnam, 20; Newton Hardin, Johnson 19; John C. McNutt, Morgan, 20; WM Crose Putnam is the only candidate for Annapolis, the Naval Academy. The examinations resulted as follows which will give Charles W. Mann the position
