Darnall Reunion

Source: Muncie News Tuesday 2 Sept 1884 p 3

On Tuesday, Aug 26 the family of Mrs. Marie Darnall, widow of Samuel Darnall, had the first reunion which has occurred in the family for the last eighteen years, at the residence of their mother at Bainbridge, Indiana. There are eight children, all living, all of whom were present. The children are Marion Darnall of Kansas City, Mo; Mrs. Wm. Bridges of Greencastle; Lafayette Darnall of Greencastle, Mrs. WH Wood of Muncie, Ind; MD Darnall, Indianapolis; Mrs. Robert Fulton, of Taylorsville, Ill; Misses Ella and Clara Darnall of Bainbridge. Of course the name children were accompanied by their consorts. The dinner was one of the grand old fashioned kind, prepared as only a mother can prepare it as is freely testified to by those who were there to enjoy it. After dinner the company formed a family circle “under the shade of the spreading beach,” and each child gave experience of how the world had deal with them since they went out from under the fostering care of their aged mother. Each ones story showed that the early teachings of their parents had not been effaced by the lapse of years. Mrs. Maria Darnall, mother of this interesting family is one of the handsomest ladies of her age in the county, well preserved both in mind and body. Her age is 70 years and she bids fair to enjoy many a happy family reunion.
