Roachdale, Ind Jan 6 – Many thousand dollars worth of kerosene and gasoline went up in an explosion and fire here this afternoon when the two tanks of the Indiana Oil Refining Company, located along the CI&W Railway in the east part of town were set afire by the exhaust of an automobile waiting under the shed to draw from the tank.  One of the tanks was filled with kerosene while the other contained gasoline.  James Elsbury who was drawing gasoline narrowly escaped death. Each tank contained approximately 70,000 gallons of oil. The fire lasted far into the night and the blaze shot high in the air. The automobile was destroyed   --– typed by kbz
