LEE family Reunion

Source: Greencastle Star Press 17 September 1892 p 4

A very pleasant reunion of the family of Col. John N. Lee and Effie Lee, his wife, took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Lee, this city on Saturday last. The entire family, consisting of five sons and two daughters were present, namely: Prof. GW Lee of Loxa, Ills; AJ Lee, Toledo, Ill; W.M. Lee, Terre Haute; Capt. JM Lee, Chicago; JW Lee, Greencastle; Mrs. Shrewbury, Loxa, Ill; Mrs. RS Druley, Hartland, Kansas. Also present: Mrs. Capt. Lee; Jesse E. Lee and wife, St. Louis; GW Lee, Jr. and Mrs. Lettie Lee, wife of Prof. TJ Lee, deceased. The occasion was a happy one and long to be remembered.  All vied with each other in the recounting of many incidents and happy reminiscences of by-gone days. There was naught to mar the happiness save the shadow that came over each one at the thought of the vacant chairs of father, mother and brother, which has left an aching voice this world can never fill.  On Sunday, the family repaired to the old homestead, 9 miles east of Greencastle, where a very enjoyable time was spent amid the scenes and associations of happy childhood days. After partaking of a bountiful dinner prepared by Mr. and Mrs. James H. Parish, all went to Stilesville and visited the graves of their parents and then returned to this city and went to Forest Hill, to look once more upon the beautiful mound of earth beneath which lies the form of their beloved brother. On Monday the family dispersed to their different homes, feeling that another golden link had been added to the chain of sweet memories and that in all probability they would never all meet again this side of eternity.
