The 8th family reunion of the O’Hair family was held as is the usual custom on Christmas Day, this year at the residence of Mr. Simpson O’Hair. These reunions have become a notable event among the O’Hairs and are looked forward to from one meeting to another with anticipatons of delight. The number present was 75. As we entered the house we could hear the joyous shouts of the 30 children in their enjoyments and the eager little voices crying to each new arrival, “Merry Christmas.”  A merrier time for old and young could not well be imagined.  All seemed to give themselves without reserve to the pleasures of the day. At 12 o’clock dinner was announced. Every art of the cuisine seemed to have been tried to its utmost capacity to satisfy the company. The dinner was simply grand. After dinner the family and invited guests quietly assembled in the parlor to hear the annual report. This exercise was commenced by the reading of a portion of scripture and prayer by Rev. Mr. Switzer. Following this were some remarks by Father O’Hair, Rev. James Johnson of Brazil.  The report was read by Mrs. Asa M. Black of Danville. It was especially well gotten up and gave a concise report of all that had taken place in the family during the year. The motion was made for adjournment an din a few moments the stillness was broken in the search for misplaced wraps and soon merry voices mingled with the sound of sleighbells growing fainter in the distance and the more sedate farewells of the older ones in many instances blended with a sign, betokened that the 8th reunion was over. God grant that the next reunion may find them again an unbroken family. Among the friends of the family from a distance were: Rev. James Johnson and daughter, Brazil, Ind; Miss Emma O’Hair, Paris, Ill; Mr. Robert Dale Boone, Ia; Rev. George Switzer, Greencastle. - kbz

The 23rd Annual Reunion of the O'Hair family was held at the old homestead north of this city on Thursday.  About 100 were in attendance many being from a distance.  A right royal feast was served and the day was most pleasantly spent with music, reminescence and the day was happily spent by those in attendance. - kbz
