Over the Teacup Club

Source: Greencastle Daily Banner and Times 6 March 1895 p 3

The “Over the Teacups” club met yesterday afternoon at the residence of Mrs. HH Mathias, 635 East Seminary Street.  The session was anticipated by the ladies on account of the subject for discussion that of Trilby and it is said that the character of Miss O’Farrell was talked about in all its kaliedoscopic phases. The discussion was led by Mrs. RA Ogg and the 30 ladies present all present quotations, newspaper comments or criticisms. The discussion waxed warm, Trilby was roughly handled by some, while others took her part and defended womanfully. Miss Mathias played Chopin’s Impromptu in A flat and Miss Sidelia Starr sang Ben Bolt, both pieces being mentioned in the book discussed and Miss Mathias and Mrs. HM Smith played a piano duet. Refreshments were served and the Trilby afternoon was a joyous affair all around. The club meets next in April
