Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. Wilson of 1101 Richmond Avenue observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday with a family reunion. A number of gifts were received among them a wedding cake on top of which was inscribed the date of their wedding and the date of the golden wedding anniversary. Geneva Rebekah Lodge sent a bouquet of flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were married July 28, 1884 at Greencastle, Ind.  They came to Mattoon in 1895 and have resided here since, 20 years in their present home. Mr. Wilson was born Nov 10, 1861 in Putnam County Indiana a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thornton Wilson. For years he worked in the car yards of the Big Four Railroad here and was retired on a pension in November 1933. He has one sister, Mrs. Hattie Myers of Dana, Ind. Mrs. Wilson was born April 10, 1860 in Park (sic – parke) County, Indiana, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. RH Jones. She is the last of a family of 10 children.  Mr. and Mrs. Wilson have four children: Mrs. Pearl Wade of Flora; Mrs. Ida Needham of Oblong; Mrs. Stella Kammin of Danville and Everett Wilson, a member of the US Navy. They have three grandchildren, Barry Needham of Los Angeles; Mrs. Norma Blackburn of East Alton and Miss Bessie Kammin of Danville. They also have three great grandchildren. Those attending the family dinner were Mr. and Mrs. William Kammin and son, William of Danville; Mr. and Mrs. CA wade and son, John of Flora; Mrs. Ida Needham and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith and son of Oblong and Miss Dorothy Blackburn of East Alton. Afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Bean, Mrs. Ida Torrence, Mrs. George Osborne and son, Eugene, Mrs. Anise Chapman and Mrs. M. Roberts, all of Mattoon and Mrs. Pearl Blackburn of Taylorville.
