South of Emmetsville at the Mississinewa River on County Road 700 West was the location of a village platted by William Merine in 1833.
Old timers have reported seeing the remains of graves in the river banks.

Just north of the Mississinewa River and South of State Road 28 on State Road 1, Where Dinner Creek crosses, is the site of the graves of three soldiers, Jesse Benton, Thompson Carnahan and Salem Peyatt.
A memorial has been built there by the Preservation Society.

On the east side of State Road 1 at the south side of the Mississinewa River is the old cemetery started in the 1830's.
When the road was straightened, after the covered bridge was gone, it left the cemetery without an access.
That has been taken care of at the present time.
There is a grassy lane that runs back to the cemetery. Parking is available beside the hitching posts. This cemetery was also called Cherry Grove.
