Methodist Churches
Bloomingsport.
--The class was first held at Jeremiah Tharpe's, south of Bloomingsport. A log house was built, perhaps about 1828. The trustees of the society were John Stevens, Nathan Frazier and Thomas Phillips. The present house was built in 1849.
Other members have been Laban Tharpe, William Chamness, William Webb, Caswell Bachelder, Alfred York, Daniel Hiatt, Harbor Pierce.
The class numbers about forty at the present time.

Bloomingsport Friends Meeting
Location: 3 miles west and 2 miles south of Lynn, Washington Twp., Randolph County, IN.
Date Organized as a meeting: A preparative meeting was set up in 1882. As a Monthly Meeting: March 13, 1963.
Organized by Authority of: Cherry Grove Monthly Meeting.
Origin of Name: Named after the town of Bloomingsport.
Family Names of Charter or Early Members: KNIGHT, REECE, OZBUN, STANLEY and CHAMNESS.
Present membership: 30.
History of physical Facilities: Meetings were first held in a creamery in the southeast part of Bloomingsport.
On November 16, 1897, the present structure was purchased from the United Brethren Congregation.
