Deed Record 1853
This Indenture witnesseth that Stephen Albaugh and Nancy Albaugh his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of Five Hundred dollars to them paid by Washington Albaugh of Randolph County Indiana the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby bargain sell and convey to the said Washington Albaugh and unto his heirs and assigns forever the following Real Estate in Randolph County and State of Indiana and described as follows, to wit: being all of the West Half of the North West quarter of Section no. 21, twenty one, in Township no. 20, twenty, North of Range 15, fifteen, East of the __ principal meridian line containing Eighty Acres of land more or less and being in the said county of Randolph together with all the privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging to have and to hold the same to the said Washington Albaugh his heirs and assigns forever. The grantors their heirs and assigns Hereby Covenanting with the grantee his heirs and assigns that the title so conveyed is clear free and unencumbered That they are lawfully Seized of the premises aforesaid as of a sure perfect and indefeasible state of inheritance in fee simple and that they will Warrant and Defend the same against all claims whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said Stephen Albaugh and Nancy Albaugh his wife, who hereby relinquishes her right to dower in said premises, have hereunto set their hands and seals this 13th day of January 1853 Stephen Albaugh     seal

Personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for said County Stephen Albaugh and Nancy Albaugh his wife the grantors in the above Conveyance and acknowledged the same to be their voluntary act and deed.
And the said Nancy Albaugh wife of the said Stephen being examined by me privately separate and apart from and without the hearing of her said husband and the full contents and purport of said deed being by me first made known and explained to her acknowledged and declared that she executed the same of her own free will and accord and without any coercion or compulsion from her husband Witness my hand and seal this 13th day of January 1853

Certify that Isaac Stephens before whom the within deed was acknowledged was at the time of taking said acknowledgement an acting Justice of the Peace in and for said County duly Commissioned and qualified and that full faith and credit are due his official acts.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Seal of the said Court at Eaton this 24th day of September 1853

[Transcriber’s notes: [George] Washington Albaugh was the nephew of Stephen and Nancy Albaugh.
G W was born in Preble Co., OH to John and Margaret (Rebecca) (Ridenour) Albaugh.
John and his children later spelled their name Allbaugh.
In 1869 GW sold this land to Paul Gettinger.
Washington Ridenour, one of the witnesses, was also [George] Washington Albaugh’s uncle]
