Steubenville Cemetery is located on the east side of State Road 1 and south of State Road 28 on the south side of the Mississinewa River, in Green Township.

Steubenville Cemetery also known as Cherry Grove was started by the Zion Methodist Church in the late 1830's. The earliest burial was for Mary E. Kent, daughter of Merrill & Mary Kent on March 29, 1839. There are 74 known burials.

A church was built at Steubenville in 1845 just to the west of the cemetery. The church was never used for religious purposes. It was moved south to the corner of the Davis Memorial Woods. There was a hitching post that ran along the west side of the church.

A little village was established here before the church was built. Israel Wirt and Jonathan Green were the proprietors and laid out the town. Steubenville was surveyed and platted December 24, 1839 and recorded July 28, 1840. A few stores and 4 or 5 houses were located here, but the town was never prosperous. The cemetery is the only sign that a town ever existed.

Steubenville Covered Bridge was taken down in 1940-41 and replaced with a Steel bridge by the State Highway Department when they straightened the road. To access the cemetery walk back along the old buggy lane about a forth of a mile beyond the hitching post. There is parking and more information for Steubenville available at the Historic Landmark Memorial on State Road 1.
