OBITUARY
----------
Again the death angel has come amongst us and claimed our loved one, Julia Cox. She was the daughter of Joel and Ruth Fouse Cox and was born in the homestead east of Winchester, February 3, 1866 and died at the hospital in Winchester, January 5, 1938, age 71 years, 11 months, 2 days.
She was of a family of eight children, father, mother, brothers and sisters having all preceeded her to that upper and better world. She has been in failing health for some time.
After the last sickness and death fo her sister, Susannah in 1923, her uncle, John Fouse, came from Kansas to live with her until he was called away to meet loved ones over there, January 12, 1933. Since that time Julia has lived alone, passing long, lonesome hours meditating upon the past and preparing to meet her Sarior and loved ones that have gone before.
One by one we are passing and we hope to meet our loved one who lives before us. We feel her motto was, "Do good and be good and we will be happy."
Remember me as you passby
As you are now, so once was I,
As I am now, soon you may be,
Prepare for death and follow me.

MRS. COX DIES FRIDAY
----------
Catherine M., daughter of Wm. and Mary Bradrick, was born in Delaware County, Indiana, February 3, 1841 and departed this life at her home north of Farmland, April 6, 1917, aged 76 years 3 months and 3 days.
She was the third child of a family of seven children. At the early age of 12 years she moved with her parents near Farmland, Randolph County where she lived the remainder of her life.
In 1861 she was married to Jesse Cox. To this union were born four children, one son, and three daughters.
At the early age of 12 years, she was converted and joined the M.E. church at Rehoboth. Afterwards with her husband she moved her membership to the Pleasant Hill church. When this church failed they then joined the M.E. church of Farmland of which she was still a faithful member at the time of her death.
The last few months of her life were borne with patience. She was a loving mother and a devoted wife. For more that fifty-five years she walked the path of life with her husband, toiling and enduring their hardships together, sharing his sorrows and joys. He has preceeded her only seven months, but the union is now complete.
The cross is laid down and she now wears the crown with the diamonds of a holy life, studding and decorating it.
As the evening came so the close of life came to her, in the evening of a beautiful day when very suddenly God called her and she willingly responded. She fell asleep and the sweet life of grandma and mother went out.
She leaves to mourn, one brother, John W. Bradrick, one sister, Mrs. Huldah Cortner, one son, Ulysses O. Cox, three daughters, Loretta Harrison, Lillan Barntoi and Rosa Guthrie two grandsons and two grand daughters and one great granddaughter, also a number of relatives, friends and neighbors.
The funeral was held at the Maxville church on Monday forenoon, conducted by Rev. R.P. Arrick, assisted by Rev. J.S. Phillips. Burial was made in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jesse Cox, one of Monroe township's most highly respected farmers, died at his home north of Farmland last Wednesday after a sickness of several months duration. Mr. Cox had improved quite a good deal however in the past few weeks but took bad again a few days ago with the foregoing result. Following is the obituary sketch of his life:
OBITUARY
----------
Jesse, son of Eleven and Ellen Cox, was born in Ross County, near Greenfield Ohio, September 10, 1841 and departed this life, August 23, 1916 aged 74 years, 11 months and 14 days at his home two miles north of Farmland, Indiana.
He was the youngest of a family of eight children, three brothes and four sisters, all of whom have preceeded him to the Great beyond.
In 1857, he moved with his father's family to Indiana and settled on the farm where he spent the remainder of his life.
In 1860 he was united in marriage to Catherine Bradrick and to this union was born, four children, one son and three daughters.
He was converted and became one of the Rehoboth church, and in later years he became one of the first members of the Pleasant Hill church. When this church failed, he with his wife moved their membership to the M.E. church in Farmland, where he remained a faithful member.
During all of his life, he was kind and loving to all. Always ready to give a cheerful hand to the needy. In the last few years, when sickness came, he was patient and kind and always thanked with a smile, those who did those deeds of living kindness for him.
He was a loving companion, a kind father, and an obliging neighbor, although he is gone, we have a blessed assurance that he now realizes the gloriousness of the reward that has been promised.

----------
Levin Cox was born in the State of Delaware on the 8th day of April, 1801, and died August 17th, 1876, aged 75 years 4 months and 9 days.
He connected himself with the M.E. Church about 45 years ago, since which time he has remained a faithful and useful member of the same. He was converted at the family altar and always held that means of grace in high esteem.
He came to this State about 20 years ago, having lived some years in Ohio before coming here. He soon mooted the question of building a church in his neighborhood and contributed liberally of his means for that purpose and was a faithful attendant on all of the ordinances of God's House as long as he was able. His life was such as to secure the respect and esteem of all who became acquainted with him; and often during his long and tedious afflictions he gave his expressions of strong confidence in the promises of the gospel and the comforting influence of God's grace in the heart and his last testimony to those around his bed of death was that he was happy in the prospect of a home in Heaven.
He leaves an aged widow, eight children and a large number of grandchildren to mourn his death. His family all survive him except one which died in infancy about 30 years ago. His youngest child is now about 35 years of age.
We will no more hear the voice of Father Cox in the prayer circle and the class room; we will no more enjoy the benefit of his admonitions and his counsels coming from age and experience, but we can comfort ourselves with the assurance that our loss is his eternal gain.
Funeral services were conducted by this writer, assisted by Rev. R.D. Spellman at Pleasant Hill Church, after which his body was interred in Pleasant Hill Cemetery to await the signal of the first resurrection. "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first Resurrection, on such the second death hath no power." John A. Moorman.
