          Mrs. James Friar, aged 72, died at her home near Farmland last Wednesday after a long illness. She is survived by a husband and three children. Funeral services were conducted at Hopewell Friday by the Methodist minister of Farmland.

          W. H. Cox and wife, of Richmond, were in the city Saturday enroute home from the funeral of his last aunt Mrs. James Friar at Hopewell the day previous.
