Hobbick Dies At Age
101 In Florida

          Centenarian William Henry Hobbick of 225 N. Kay St., West Palm Beach, Fla., a resident of South Bend until 1947, died at 9:50 a.m. Monday in West Palm Beach.
          Mr. Hobbick, 101, ill for the last two years, had been active until that time in the Lakeworth (Fla.) Shuffleboard Club.  A retired candy maker and fruit merchant, he was a life member of South Bend Lodge 294.  Born on Aug. 17, 1864 in Winchester, Ind., he came to South Bend as a boy.  On May 27, 1893 in South Bend, he married Hettie Smith, who died in 1946. He is survived by a son William D., of Fort Launderdale, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.  The body will be brought to the Weisheimer Funderal Home.

          Benjamin F. Hobbick, retired Denver livestock commission man, died yesterday in Colorado General Hospital after an illness of five months.  He was 81.  Mr. Hobbick, whose home was at 1612 E. 14th Ave., for many years headed the B.F. Hobbick & Son Livestock Commission Co. in Denver.
          He was born in Winchester, Ind., Jan 30, 1862.  Before coming to Denver in 1919, he operated a livestock commission firm in Omaha, and later raised cattle on a ranch in Nebraska.  Mr. Hobbick, who retired 10 years ago, was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Modern Woodsmen of the World. 
          Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Olinger Mortuary, Speer Blvd.  Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. 
          Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma E. (Ryerson)  Hobbick, a daughter Mrs. Ruby B. Wilson, Denver, a son, Harry L. Hobbick, Denver, four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Married Samuel Spitler in 1849 he d. in 1864 leaving her with 3 step children, m. 2nd Christian Hobbick July 1866, he d. 1868, leaving her a widow with 8 step-children.
