Came to Randolph Co. in 1831; taught school several years. He was a member of
the Board of Commisioners, 1831 1841. Married Sallie Stephens 11/8/1832. She d.
12/13/1847. He married 2nd Nancy Fansher in 1848 who survives. Moved to Kansas
in 1858, then came back to Ind., the spring of 1860. He went to Iowa in 1865
and stayed. He was a minister of the M.E. Church for 25 years. Urias Eberhart
preached the funeral.

resided here for 53yrs.

d. July 1877 committed suicide by taking morphine. She had recently been
discharged from an asylum and was living with her children. Her son Jay Love
was absent and she sent his little boy to the drugstore for some morphine. When
he came home his mother was very sick and died that night. She was the former
widow of Laban Love, married 1/23/1851. He died and she married John Ballenger
4/2/1874. She was nee Neff.

Nashville, Tenn. where his reg. was sta. but he had died before she reached
there. She brought his remains home and bur. him at Mt. Gilead Cem. Where she
is now sleeping by his side. After several yrs. she married 3rd husb. Joseph
Clark, whom she survived 4 yrs. Her only child by 1st husb. married and is in
Kansas. She had 3 children by 2nd husb. married and gone. The eldest, Josie
Armstrong is a teacher in New Lebanon, OH schools. 3 minor ch. by her 3rd hsb.
left without a mother.
