Dorothy Elizabeth Basford, 87, of Knightstown, died Friday, May 24, 2002, at Regency Place Nursing Home in Greenfield. Born Jan. 2, 1915, in Morehead, Ky., she was the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Hamm) Caudill, both deceased. She married Howard T. Basford; he preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1986. Mrs. Basford was a homemaker and attended Faith Chapel Church in Knightstown. Survivors include two sons, Robert Basford (and wife Arlene) of Knightstown and Charles Basford of Texas; four brothers, Charles Caudill Jr. (and wife Connie) of Knightstown, William Leslie Caudill (and wife Lena) of Raysville, Issac Paul Caudill (and wife Richie) of Kentucky, and Robert E. Caudill (and wife Susan) of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Anita (Mrs. Jack) Shore and Anna (Mrs. Maurice) Lewman, both of Knightstown; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother Ida Caudill and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown, with the Rev. Randy Gross officiating. Burial will take place in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason, Ohio, at the family's convenience. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
