George Hazlett Jr., 66, of Arlington, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville. Born May 22, 1937, in Stanford, Ky., he was the son of the late George and Katie L. (Phillips) Hazlett; she survives. On July 23, 1960, he married Bertha 'Lee' House; she survives. Mr. Hazlett owned and operated Hazlett Drywall for more than 40 years. A former member of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of Blue River Wesleyan Church, the Thunder Road Car Club, and the Pioneer Steam Engine Club. Survivors in addition to his mother and wife include two daughters, Karen (Mrs. James) Hunt of Carthage and Jane Hazlett of Mays; four sisters, Sue Fox and Ruby Gander, both of Stanford, Ky., Virginia Craine of Louisville, Ky., and Serena Mullikan of Richmond, Ky.; and five grandchildren. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Frazier Funeral Home in Morristown. Burial, which will include graveside military rites, will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are requested to the American Lung Association.
