Ode M. Drake

Ode M. Drake, 85 died suddenly Friday night at his home in Arlington and the body was found Saturday afternoon by a daughter Mrs. Donald Wilson.

A retired railroader, Mr. Drake had lived in Rush County about 50 years. He retired in 1953 after 12 years of employment with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Previously he had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad.

He was born in Shelby County on August 25, 1881, the son of Sylvester and Emma Thrall Drake and was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Emma Moore Drake, who died March 10,1965.

Survivors include a son Donald E. Drake of Rushville; a stepson Cecil Ray of Rushville, two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Wilson of Rushville and Mrs Richard ( Ina Lee ) Stephan of Gardenia California; four half-brothers, Herschell, Orville, and Joe Drake all of Las Angeles California and Wilson Drake of Ingalls Ind; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Clara) Craig and Mrs. Myrtle Moore both of Shelbyville, 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Richard Merriman will conduct services at 10 am Tuesday at Moster and Sons Mortuary, where friends may call after 4 PM today with burial in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
