Loanne 11 March 2001(MERIDITH) Looking for info reference the following Meridith families that lived in Rush Co. in the 1850 census; Sanford Age 25 in District #97; Frances, age 56 and William G. 26 in Jackson, O V age 57 and Robert age 26 in Posey. Any help appreciated.


V J Schuster 11 March 2001(HELMS) I am interested in finding more about David Helms, who died in Rush Co. 1852. One son was Riley Allen Helms, another was Hugh S Helms. David was married to Mary A. Williams. I am looking for descendents and also where family lived prior to Rush Co.


Mary 11 March 2001(JEFFERSON,HILLIGOSS) I am trying to get info on james Henry Jefferson. I need his parents and wives. Need marriage info on james to Sarah Hilligoss. He later married katherine Losh. Have no idea where the marriages took place.He did live in Rush Co. until sometime after 1873. My grandfather Frank Augusta Jefferson was born in Rushville in 1873. Any help would be appreciated.


Joan Stark 11 March 2001(IRVINE, BEELER,REIDEMAN) I have files on Irvine,Beeler, Reideman. Will share, but I need information for Cribbins (Homer area) Moore, same area. Mrs. Cribbins was a Moore. Haverkos, Bill and Lorettain Rush Co. Who did their son James marry? Wilma still leves there but is reluctant to give info.


Wendy 11 March 2001(JOHNSON, MULLIS) Looking for info on my G-G-Grandfather, james Wilson Johnson born (according to his son's 1900 census) in Ohio 1830-1842. Married Amanda Mullis late 1850's-1860. She was born (according to the son's 1900 census)in North Carolina. One son, John Lafayette Johnson b Mar 2, 1861 near Rushville, Rush Co. IN. Amanda died when John was young. James married unknown - 2 other sons born Lee Johnson and Lester Johnson-probably IN. James died Oct 13, 1917. John L. Johnson married katie Jane Blazer July 4, 1883 in Madison Co. IN. Lee married unknown. 3 daughters - Grace, Opel, Mary Helen. Was told Lester Gray is related to this family. Any help would be appreciated.

Darlene 9 March 2001(SOLOMAN) I am looking for the death record and possible burial site for Charles Soloman. I do not have much information except he married Martha Dove on April 17, 1891, and she remarried on September 28, 1896. I am also looking for birth records for their children William and Lulu Solomon. Both of the children would have been born between 1891 and 1896. Thanks.

They owned original land in Shelby Co., IN, and located there by 1839. They moved to Burlington, IA in 1843 and finally,to Bridgeport, Monroe Co., IA. Their Children: Mary A. b 1828 IN married Alford W. Wilson b 1821 TN in 1844 Mahaska Co., IA, Isaac b 1830 PA, Margaret L. b 1832 OH married (1) James Underwood (2) Geo. H. L. Besco, Martha b 1834 OH, Minerva b 1835 PA(?), Abigail b 1836 OH married Everett Williams b 1823, John b 1839 IN married Alice M. Craig b IL, James b 1842 IA, Elizabeth b 1843 married J. J. Roberts, Isabella b 1845 IA married Scott Joseph Besco. Scott and Isabella (Goble) STEEL appear to be living with Isaac GOBLE b1780-1790 in the 1830 Rush Co., IN census. James STEEL b1770-1780 is listed one line above Isaac GOBLE. In 1849 there is a newspaper article stating that "Isaac GOBLE has gone to Calif.". I do not know if this is a son or Isaac GOBLE b1780-1790. In 1850 census a Isaac Goble age 82 b NJ is living with James GOBLE age 30 b OH. Scott STEEL b 1810 PA appears to be related (probably brothers) to 3 male Steeles in Shelby Co.,IN: Isaac (listed as "native of Rush Co., IN) b 1801 PA. d 1879 married Jane Lewis b 1807 on (Children: Hannah b 1826,Nancy b 1835, Robert R. b 1840, Jemina b 1844, Frances I. B 1850), Robert R. b 1818 d 1844 Shelby Co.,IN married Harriet Goodrich b 1819 (Children: Mary E. b 1840, Geo.W. b 1841, Barbara b MO, Robert R. b 1845) and Samuel b 1806PA married Jane Lynes/Lines (Children: Linly b 1844 IN, Sarah E. b 1849 IA, Louisa J. b 1846 IA, Louisa E. b 1852 IA). Samuel STEEL lived in Southeastern Iowa in 1850's but I cannot find him after that. Isaac and Robert R. remained in Shelby Co., IN.

Larry Crim 18 Feb.2001 (CRIM) Trying to find out what became of Tom and Frank Crim, probably born Shelby Co., IN, but family lived in Rush Co. in the Manilla and Homer areas. Father was Jacob Crim 1834-1895 m. Mary Catherine Gardner b.abt 1863 m.1879. Third son, Jesse 1885-1946 was my grandfather. After Jacob's death, Mary Catherine m. John Brackenridge Johnson and I don't know what became of her. Any info greatly appreciated...thanks.


E. Cotton (Taylor) 3 Feb.2001 (WELLS) William B. Wells who married Martha (maiden name unknown) both are naives of KY. Marriage date needed and Martha's maiden name needed. They are on 1860 Census for Pike Twnship, Marion Co., Indiana They had several children, also. Both died in Indiana..

Larry 3 Feb.2001 (SHAW) I have been searching for some time for the death and burial information for my ggfather, Jesse Shaw who reportedly died in Indiana in 1862. Yesterday, I learned that a will, that may be his, is listed in Rush County in 1862 in Book 2 page 458. Can anyone on the list help me with any cemetary listing or will information for Jesse or any information on his family in the area. I know that he and his wife Mary and their kids lived in Hancock County in Blue River township in 1850 and then moved to Wisconsin but Jesse returned to Indiana when he became ill and his wife and youngest children then returned to Wisconsin. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.


Ed Dolan 27 Jan 2001 (AMOS) Would like data on family of Nicholas Amos, who settled in Rush Co.before 1840. He married there on 10 April, 1841, Sarah Lawson (widow). He brought with him from Bourbon Co., Ky. seven children by his first wife, Mary (Polly) (Collier) Mountjoy. She was a daughter of John Collier, of Nicholas Co., Ky., and married, first, George Mountjoy, Jr., in 1806, and had four children with him. She remarried in 1814, Nicholas Amos. They had the seven children mentioned earlier: John C., Catherine, Polly Ann, Cynthia, Amanda, James and Olive. I don't know if Mary Collier Mountjoy went to Rush Co. with Nicholas, or died in Kentucky. I'd like data on the children he had with Mary. Thanks.

Donna Burke 27 Jan 2001 (BARRETT) searching for any info on the following family, living in Rushville, Rush County, Indiana, circa 1900?, to at least 1939. Cecilia Barrett died March 10, 1939, in Rushville, her husband was Patrick Barrett. Cecelia Barrett's parents were Andrew Lynch and Catherine Jennings Lynch, both born Ireland. Cecilia Lynch is most probably my great aunt, or cousin.She was born in Ireland, march 17, 1844. my grandmother, Sarah Cecilia Lynch Garrity was b. Ireland, 1853, to Philip Lynch and Mary Jennings, informant on the death cert, of Cecilia Lynch Barrett, in 1939 was, Sally Amos,. could this be a daughter or granddaughter of Ceclia Lynch Barrett? Jim McCrory 20 Jan 2001 (LOGAN) I'm grave hunting and looking for a very old Rush County cemetary. My ancestor Patrick Logan (died 1828) is buried in the Flat Rock Church Cemetary in Rush County. Tom Smith 20 Jan 2001 (WARFIELD, THOMAS) Adam Warfield was my wifes great great great grandfather b. 1774 d. 5-11-1863. He married Margaret Thomas b.1788 d. 2-8-1856. They had 9 children Henry b. 1810, John b. 1-11-1812, James Rafer b. 3-2-1827, David b.1825, William, Elizabeth b. 3-7-1808, Margaret, Adam T., and Kate. I though there was enough simularites in my family to reply. Warfield were in Rush Co. in the 1850's, and Margaret could have been Mary.


Jerry D. Posey 20 Jan 2001 (POSEY) Searching for info on Zephaniah Posey b. 21 Dec 1753 and his son Albert b. 14 Jul 1805. We have long believed that My ggrandfather John Posey b. 18 July 1826 was the son of Albert and his first wife Mary Jemison b. 7 Oct1836. This family spent some of their lifetime in and around Rush Co. Ind. before moving to Franklin Co. Ind. Need any info you may wish to offer.

My great Aunt was Melvina Adaline who was first married to a Reynolds, who lived on 3rd St. After his death, she married a Peter Harrison, circ 1924, I would appreciate any information on them especially. I have no knowledge of what happened to her and where she is buried after the marriage.

John McAnally 5 Jan 2001 (McANALLY) Looking for the death information on William McAnally. Supposedly he died in 1888 in Franklin County, IN but we have searched all available records in that county and now believe he must have died in one of the neighboring counties. Can someone do a lookup for us in the death records for Rush County?


Zola Troutman Noble 5 Jan 2001 (NOBLE) Mu husband's ancestors lived in Rush County for a time in the early 1800s. Jonathan Noble was married to Lucinda Jane Smith in Rush Co on Jan. 21, 1850. Wills H. Butler and Sarah Dilliner Butler lived in Rush Co. with three of their children in 1850. I am searching for the parents of Jonathan Noble and Lucinda Jane Smith. Any info on the Butlers and Dilliners will be appreciated. I have the Butler line going back to England, but nothing about the Dilliner family, except that Sarah was born in Pennsylvania.
