JANES to BROWN, No. 836
This Indenture witnesseth that Elizabeth J. JANES and James O. JANES her husband of Spencer County in the State of Indiana convey and warrant to Walson H. BROWN of Spencer County in the State of Indiana for the sum of Six hundred dollars the following Real Estate in Spencer County in the State of Indiana, to wit:
The North half of the North East quarter of section number twelve 12 in township number seven 7 South of range number eight 8 West except two acres out of the South East corner of the North East quarter of the North East quarter of said land.
In witness, whereof the said Elizabeth J. JANES and James O. JANES her husband have herewith set their hands and seals this 13th day of August, AD 1880.

Notes: James O. JANES was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth CHILDERS JANES, formerly of Adair Co., KY. He married Elizabeth J. RICHARD on 22 Feb. 1880 in Spencer Co. She had been previously married; her married name was RICHARD, first name of husband unknown, her maiden name unknown.



OVERLIN to WILSON, No. 245
This Indenture made this 16 day of May 1838 between Jonathan Overlin of the County of Spencer County of the first part and John Wilson of the County of Spencer of the second part. Witnesseth that the said Jonathan Overlin for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, he the said Overlin have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents does grant, bargain and sell to the said John Wilson the following described tract or parcel of Land situated lying and being in the County of Spencer and State of Indiana it being the South East qr (quarter) of the South East qr of Section No. 24 in Township No. 7(?) South of Range No. 8 West containing forty acres. To have and to hold the above described tract of Land with all the appurtenances and improvements thereinto belonging to the said John Wilson forever and the said Jonathan Overlin for himself and his Heirs Executors etc. (?) does hereby covenant that he will forever warrant and defend the said tract of land unto the said John Wilson forever against all persons and claims whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said Jonathan Overlin hath hereunto set his hand and seal the date first inserted.

I Amos Woodruff one of the acting Justices of the peace in and for said County do hereby certify that the above named Jonathan Overlin personally came before me and acknowledged the above Indenture to be his voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein specified given under my hand and seal this 17th day of May, 1838.
