The following divorce notices reflected those printed in The Planter and the Rockport Advertiser weekly newspapers published between the years of 1848 and 1860. However, the preserved collection, originally copied by the Salt Lake City Genealogical Society was incomplete and some issues and pages were missing.

Now at this time to wit: on the 21 st day of June A. D., 1852, comes the said petitioner and files her petition herein, and also the affidavit of a disinterested person showing that the said defendant is not a resident of Indiana; he the said John Hill, is therefore hereby notified of the filing and the pendancy of said petition and that unless he be and appear before said court on or before the calling of this cause, at the next term thereof, and answer to the said petition, the same will be determined in his absence. Angeline Evans Vs Alexander Evans

On this, 13th day of March 1857, the plaintiff, by Thomas J. Langdon, her solicitor, filed in the office of the clerk of the Spencer Circuit court, her bill of complaint; and also the affidavit of a disinterested witness that the said Alexander Evans is not a resident of the State of Indiana. Therefore, said Alexander Evans is hereby notified of the filing and pendancy of the said complaint and that the same will stand for trial at the next term of the Spencer Circuit Court to be holden at the court house in said county on the 3rd Monday of May 1857.
