This Indenture made the 28th day of July in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and forty Eight between James Gentry and Eliza Gentry his wife of the county of Spencer and State of Indiana of the one part and Philip J. Saltsman of the county and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth That the said James Gentry for and in consideration of the sum of two Hundred and Seventy Six Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Philip J. Saltsman the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and doth by these presents Grant bargain Sell convey and confirm unto the Said Philip J. Saltsman his heirs and assigns forever "a certain parcel or tract of Land lying adjoining to and north and East of the Town of Gentryville county of Spencer and State of Indiana and described as follows viz. Beginning at the North East corner and running west eighty poles thence South Eighty three poles thence East sixty six and a half poles thence South Thirty six poles and three links thence East sixteen poles and six links thence North one hundred and Twenty four poles and Eight links to the place of beginning making Forty Six acres and Two rods more or less It being @ part of the East half of the North West Quarter of Section No one Township No Five South Of range No six West also The said Jas Gentry and Eliza His wife doth by these presents grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said Phillip J. Saltsman his heirs and assigns forever Six Lots or parcels of Ground in the Town of Gentryville County and State aforesaid and known on the plat of said Town as Lots No one Two Thirteen Fourteen Fifteen and sixteen and described as above and making Three acres more or Less Together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging and the reversions remainders and profits there of and all the estate title and interest of the said Jas Gentry in and to the same To have and to hold the premises aforesaid with all the appurtenances to the Only proper use benefit and behoof of the said Philip J. Saltsman his heirs and assigns forever and the said Jas Gentry for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant and agree to and with the said Phillip J. Saltsman his heirs and assigns that he the said Jas Gentry is Lawfully Seized in fee of the premises aforesaid that they are free from all incumbrances and that he has good right to sell and convey the same in manner and form aforesaid and further that he and his heirs executors and administrators shall and will warrant and defend the said premises to the said Phillip J. Saltsman his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of himself and his heirs and also against the Lawful claim or claims of all and Every other person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said Jas Gentry and Eliza Gentry his wife have hereunto Set their handss and Seals the day and year above mentioned.

Be it remembered that the within named Jas Gentry and Eliza Gentry his wife known to me to be the persons who executed the foregoing deed came this day personally before me the undersigned @ Justice of the peace in and for the county of Spencer aforesaid and each severally acknowledged that they and Each of them did sign seal and deliver the within and foregong indenture as and for their and Each of their own act and deed. She the said Eliza Gentry the wife of the said Jas. Gentry being of full age and the full contents and purport of the said indenture having been by me first made known to her and being by me separate and apart from and without the hearing of her said Husband privately examined upon Such examination she did declare and acknowledge that she voluntarily and of her own free will and accord and without any coercion or compulsion from her husband Signed Sealed and delivered the said indenture as her act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned. SMITH to SALTSMAN

This Indenture witnesseth That William B Smith and Eleanor M Smith, the wife of the said William B Smith, both of the County of Spencer and State of Indiana for and in consideration of Four Hundred Dollar lawful money of the United States to them paid by Philip J. Saltsman of the County and State above mentioned the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby bargain, sell, and convey, to the said Philip J. Saltsman, his heirs and assigns forever the following Real Estate in Spencer County and State of Indiana, and described as follows, to wit Inlot No. twenty five (25) in the Town of Gentryville, County and State above mention; said Inlot measuring two rods North and South, and Eight Rods East and west as follows--Beginning at the North West corner, and numbering ten rods South thence eight rods East, thence ten rods North, and thence Eight rods West, to the place of beginning; making one half acre, be the same more or less. Also a certain tract or parcel of land or ground adjoining to the Town of Gentryville and due East of Inlots No. twenty Eight and twenty nine (28 & 29) and described as follows, to wit Beginning at the Northwest corner (which is at the Boonville and New Albany Road, and fifty feet east, the width of a street, of Inlot No. twentyeight) and runing south twenty rods and thirteen links - thence East, Sixteen rods, - thence North twenty rods and thirteen links, and thence west - sixteen rods, to the place of beginning, making two acres and eight rods be the same more or less; both of the above described pieces of ground are a part of and lying in the East half of the North west quarter of Section No One, in Township No Five South of Range No Six West; together with all the privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging. To have and to hold the same to the said Philip J. Saltsman, his heirs and assigns forever. The grantors and their heirs and assigns hereby covenanting with the grantee his heirs and assigns, that the title so conveyed is clear, free and unincumbered; that they are lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid as of a sure perfect, and indefesible estate of inheritance in fee Simple; and that they will warrant and defend the same against all claims whatsoever.

In witness whereof, the said William B. Smith and Eleanor M. Smith his wife who hereby relinquishes her dower in said premises, have hereunto set their hands and seals, this tenth day of October AD 1851.

SALTSMAN to BEARD No. 153

This indenture made this the 23rd day of March 1853 between Philip J Saltsman and Elizabeth his wife of the one part, and Andrew Beard of the other part all of the County of Spencer and state of Indiana. Witnesseth. That the said P. J. Saltsman for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty Dolalrs to him in hand paid by the said Andrew Beard, the receipt whereof he doth freely acknowledge hath bargained sold confirmed and doth by these presents bargain sell and doth confirm unto the said Andrew Beard his heirs and assigns forever a certain parcel or lot of land situate in the County of Spencer and State of Indiana aforesaid and described as follows, (viz) beginning opposite the South East corner of Lot No. fifteen, the Street only intervening, so as to make the commencing corner, on the corner of the Street, immediately opposite the South East corner of said Lot No. fifteen, thence running west with the State Road leading to _____ from Gentryville, __________________________________________________________________, it being in Section One, Township Five, Range Six. together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging and the aversions and remainders thereof, and all the estate title and interest of the said P. J. Saltsman, in and to the same and the said Saltsman doth covenant and agree to and with the said Baird that he will warrant and defend the same against all the claims of all and ever person whomsover, that the said premises are free from all encumbrance, and that he has _____ right to sell and _____ the same in madder and form aforesaid, and Elizabeth Saltsman hereby relinquishes all her right and title of Dower, or in and to the premises hereinnamed. In witness whereof the said P. J. Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife have hereunto affixed their names and seals this 23rd day of March, 1853.

We Philip J. Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman convey and warrant to Jacob H. Strous a tract of land or ground adjoining to the town of Gentryville and due East of Pulots No twenty eight and twenty nine (28 and 29) and described as follows to wit Beginning at the North West corner which is at the Boonville and New Albany Road and fifty feet East and running South twenty Rods and thirteen links thence East Sixteen rods thence North thirty rods and thirteen links and thence West Sixteen rods to the place of beginning, making two acres and eight rods be the more or less both of the above described pieces of ground are a part of and lying on the East Half of the North West quarter of Section No. One in Township No. Five South of Range No six West together all the privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging in the Town of Gentryville County of Spencer and State of Indiana for the sum of Fifty dollars In testimony whereof we have here and to set our hand and seal this the 14th October 1854.

We Philip J. Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife convey and warrant to Abraham Hyley the parcel or lot of land described as follows beginning South one hundred and twenty Eight Rods and Eight links from the half mile stone on the North line of Section One in _____ five South of range five west and running West seventeen Rods thence South twenty rods and thirteen links thence East Eighteen Rods twenty three links thence North twenty rods and Eighteen links to the beginning situated in the county of Spencer State of Indiana for the sum of two hundred dollars. In witness whereof we have hereto set our hands and seals this 12 day of January 1855.

SALTSMAN to HILEY, No. 397

Philip J. Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife of Spencer County in the State of Indiana convey and warrant to John Hiley of Spencer County in the State of Indiana for the sum of fifty dollars in hand paid the following Real Estate in Town of Gentryville, Spencer County Indiana to wit. Lots thirteen and fourteen in said town also seven hundred and nineteen thousandth 719/1000 of an acre commencing three poles East of the NE corner of Lot No. 14 in said town thence South 10 poles thence East 12 poles to the half mile line thence north with the said line--allowing a variation of five degrees and fifty minutes thence 10 8/10 poles thence West to the beginning 11 poles containing 719/1000 of an acre. In witness whereof the said Philip J. Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife have here unto set their hands and seals this the 25th day of June 1855.

Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife of Spencer County in the State of Indiana convey and warrant to Anderson Pitman of Spencer County in the State of Indiana for the sum of One hundred and twenty four dollars the following Real Estate in Spencer County in the State of Indiana to wit. The South Half of the North West quarter of Section No. thirty two (32) in Township No four (4) South of Range No five (5) _____ containing Eighty acres be the same more or less. In witness whereof the said Philip J. Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this twenty fifty day of June 1855.

Philip J. Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife of Spencer County in the State of Indiana convey and warrant to Jacob Strous of Spencer County in the State of Indiana for the sum of fifty dollars the following Real Estate in Spencer County in the State of Indiana to wit. Adjoining the town of Gentrybille and due East of Pulots No. 28 and 29 in said town. Beginning fifty (50) feet from the North East corner of Lot No. 28, running thence South twenty (20) Rods and thirteen (13) links thence East Sixteen (16) Rods thence North twenty (20) Rods and thirteen links and thence west Sixteen Rods to the place of beginning containing two acres and Eight Rods be the same more or less.

      In witness whereof the said Philip J. Saltsman and Elizabeth his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this fourteenth (14th) day of January 1855.

Jacob Strous and Elizabeth Strous his wife of Spencer County in the State of Indiana convey and warrant to Philip J. Saltsman of Spencer County in the State of Indiana for the sum of fifty dollars in hand paid the following Real Estate in Spencer County in the State of Indiana to wit: A tract of land adjoining the town of Gentryville and due East of Lots No. 28 and 29 and described as follows-- Beginning at the NW corner which is at the Boonville and New Albany Road and fifty feet East and turning South twenty rods and 13 links then East 16 Rods unto N 30 Rods and 13 links thence West 16 Rods to the beginning containing two acres and 8 rods more or less being the same land conveyed by Saltsman once by deed dated 14 October 1854 by mistaken description. In witness whereof the said Jacob Strous and Elizabeth Strous his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this thirteenth day of January 1855.

Know all men by these presents that Philip J. Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife of Spencer County, Indiana convey and warrant to James Gentry of the same place the following strips of land viz. Three poles on the East side of Lots No. 1, 14, and 15 in Gentryville in said County and all that part of the alley which is one pole wide on the North side of Gentryville that the said Saltsman owns for and in consideration of the sum of thirty dollars the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged this February 29th 1856.

We Phillip J. Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife of the County of Spencer and state of Indiana Convey and warrant unto Chris Seibre of the County of Spencer and state of Indiana the following Real Estate described as follows to wit part of Lot No (41) forty one in Gentrys addition to Gentryville Commencing at the South West corner of said Lot and Running North with the Rockport and Jasper Road thirty (30) feet thence East fifty Eight (58) feet back to the place of beginning for and in the consideration of the sum of nine dollars $9.00 in hand paid to us by said Scbra and in Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and Seals this the 20th day of April 1870.

We Richard Wetherill and Luiza Wetherill his wife of Warrick County Indiana Convey and Warrant unto Elizabeth Saltsman wife of Phillip J Saltsman of the County of Spencer and State of Indiana and unto her heirs and assigns forever the following described real estate in Spencer County Indiana, to wit:

      Pt of the North East quarter of the North West quarter of sec No. 1 township No 5 S Range No 6 W 26 acres more or less with the appurtenances thereof,

      And also the following described real estate in Warrick County Indiana, to wit:

      The SouthWest quarter of section No 36 Township No 4 South of Range No 6 W 158 acres, and the South half of the North West quarter of section No 36 township No 4 South of West quarter of section No 36 township No 4 South of Range No 6 West 80 acres together with the appurtenances

SALTSMAN to WALTERS

This Indenture Witnesseth that Whereas on the 22d of February of 1866 the undersigned Philip Saltsman and Elizabeth Saltsman his wife of Spencer County Indiana made a deed of Conveyance to John Walters which deed is recorded in book No. 27 on page 396 of the Records of the Recorders Office of Spencer County Indiana for a certain tract of land in Said County, intending to Convey to him a part of the East half of the North west quarter of Section No one, Town five South of range Six west, but by mistake, the deed was made for "part of the East half of the North East quarter of Section no. one, Township No (6) South Range No. five west," and now in order to correct the error aforesaid and in consideration of the premises and the purchase money heretofore received to wit: four hundred and ten dollars. Do hereby Convey and quit claim to John Walters all our right and titles and interest in and to the following described Real Estate to wit: Part of the East half of the North west quarter of Section No one (1) in Township No five (5) South Range No Six (6) west and bounded as follows viz - "Beginning fifteen feet North of the North west Corner of lot No Seven (7) in the town of Gentryville and running thence East along the North line of Said town thirty Six 36/100 Rods to the Rockport and Jasper road. thence South 12 degrees East along said road twenty four rods and 8/100 rods thence west forty three and 47/100 rods thence South twenty four and 8/100 rods to the place of beginning. Containing Six Acres.

Saltsman and Elisabeth Saltsman of Spencer County in the State of Indiana Convey and warrant to Perry Chinn Sen. of Spencer County in the state of Indiana for the sum of three hundred Dollars the following Real Estate in Spencer County in the State of Indiana to wit: Part of the East half of the North west quarter of Section No. one (1) Town five (5) South of Range Six (6) west described to wit commencing at the North East corner of Eight and one half acres of land sold to John Walter by P. J. Saltsman and running north with the Jasper and Rockport Road 38 58/209 Rods thence west 58 rods thence South 38 58/209 thence East 46 1/2 Rods to the place of beginning to contain twelve and one half acres.

      In witness whereof the said Phillip Saltsman and Elisabeth Saltsman his wife has hereunto set their hand and Seal this 14 day November 1872.

      Commencing at the half mile corner in the North line of section One in township 5 South of Range six West, and runing West to the Rockport and Jasper road, thence South along said Road to the North West corner of a tract of land heretofore deeded to J. W. Martin, thence East along the North line of said tract to the half mile line runing through said section One thence North on said line to the beginning

      Also a tract commencing where the North line of section one croses the Rockport and Jasper road and runing West along said line to the North West corner of the North East quarter of North West quarter of said section one thence South to the North West corner of a tract hereto fore deeded to John Walter thence along the North line of said tract to the Rockport and Jasper road thence North along said road to the begining and estimated to contain twelve acres more or less for and in consideration of four hundred dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged.
