This house was built before the Civil War by the Mattingly family and finished after the war for his widow. The husband was killed in the war. This cemetery was found and photografted by Wayne Bond. Additional research by web mistress, Lynn Spohr


This is on 850 west south of Eureka, in a field behind both houses.

Of Note: The remains of the late William Mattingley and others of the family buried in the old churchyard are to be removed to the Catholic burial ground at Yankeetown and the church to be converted to a dwelling. See listing below. from Rockport Sentinel 1883
