Enlisted in U.S. Marine Corps, Detroit, (exact date not known.) Trained at Parris Island, S. C., Quantico, Va., and in Cuba. Sailed September 13, 1918; assigned to 1st Battalion, 13th Regiment, U.S. Marine Corps. Died on board ship Von Steuben, September 23, 1918, of influenza. Buried in Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Ind.
