Son of David and Emma Masten; born July 16, 1898, Pleasant Lake, Steuben County, Ind. Farmer. Served with Company B, 3rd Infantry, Indiana National Guard on the Mexican Border in 1916. Re-enlisted in June, 1917. Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss.; assigned to 137th Field Artillery. Overseas in October, 1918. Died of pneumonia October 24, 1918, Nell Lane Hospital, Manchester, England. Body returned to U.S., and buried in Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Ind.
