Sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa; assigned to 18th Company, 5th Training Battalion, 163rd Depot Brigade. Transferred to Medical Detachment, Base Hospital. Died of pneumonia October 16, 1918, Camp Dodge, Iowa. Buried in Teeter's Cemetery, Clear Lake Township, Steuben County, Ind.
