1. ADAM2 WOLF (ADAM1) was born May 11, 1761 in Fauquier Co., VA, and
died March 11, 1851 in Steuben Co., IN. He married (1) ANNA MARGARET
STEINBRENNER October 07, 1787 in New Jerusalem Ch., Fauquier Co., VA.
He married (2) SUSANNAH STEINBRENNER March 10, 1796 in New Jerusalem
Ch., Fauquier Co., VA.

Notes for ADAM WOLF:
This couple was living in Loudoun Co., VA at the time of William's
birth. They moved to Columbiana Co., OH whileWilliam was still an
infant. Adam came to Indiana before 1851 as he died and is buried at
Hamilton Cemetery, Steuben Co., IN with that as the year of his death.
In a book that provides a biography of William it says that Adam came to
Steuben and DeKalb Cos. and lived there with his son-in-law, George
Dahuff.

McMahan info:
John Adam Wolf b. c 1765 VA is mentioned in a Loudoun Co. lease
dated 1
Apr 1789 in which his father leased 152 1/2 A in Catoctin Manor. John
Adams's age at that time was given as 24 yrs. He died in Columbiana
Co.,OH???
It is possible John Adam married twice. In Loudoun Co. records is
found the marriage of Adam Wolf on 7 Oct 1787 to Margaret Steinbrenner.
She died 10 Dec 1795 at 27-10-0 (Ref: Folio 2 p. 8)
Then in records of the New Jerusalem Church he married 10 Mar 1796
Susanna Stoneburner. If all this is so - that he married twice - then
possibly the girls were sisters.
McCord's History of Columbiana County Ohio p. 284 cites him as one
of
the early settlers in Knox twp.
John Adam is listed in the disbursement of his father's estate
(Admin
Acct Feb 23 1808) as well as in the 1812 sale of his father's land to
brother Andrew Wolf, at which time they were living in Columbiana Co.,
OH
They owned a tract of land in Section 26 which they sold to William
Sandstreet viz:
"Adam Woolf to Columbiana Co., OH c. 1807, source???"

"June 1812: Henry Woolf wife Julianna, Adam Wolf and Susannah his wife,
Jacob Wolf and Molly his wife, Phillip Wolf and Mary his wife, John Wolf
and Abigail his wife sell their rights to their father's property to
brother, Andrew."

Notes for SAMUEL SHEETS:
"History of Wayne County Ohio" 1878
Samuel Sheets was born in the state of Maryland and came to Ohio in
the
year 1805, and settled in Columbiana County, where he resided until he
reach his majority. Soon after arriving at man's estate he was married
to Miss Elizabeth Wolf, in the year 1819. The same year he moved to
Congress, Wayne County, Ohio, where he lived until the spring of 1832,
when he agin moved to Montgomery Twp., Ashland Co., and began settlement
immediately in the woods with no improvements whatever save a lonely
rude cabin. He died in the year 1872, at the ripe old age of 75 years
11 mos and 23 days, leaving a wife and 7 children. The wife and mother
survived him six years, when she was called away. Both Mr. and Mrs.
Sheets were earnest members of the Lutheran church, and strong advocates
of the cause of Christ.
Samuel and Elizabeth Wolf Sheets moved to Congress, Wayne Co., OH
in
1819. They lived on land owned by Christian Sheets. Christian deeded
the land to Samuel through his mother and siblings. In 1832, Samuel and
Elizabeth moved to Montgomery Twp., Ashland Co., OH

He was a trustee and one of the earliest settlers. The 1860 & 1870
census show them living in Montgomery Twp., Ashland Co., OH [bb]

This couple were parents of 17 children [William's obit alludes to the
17 children] 2 of whom died in infancy. 15 grew to adulthood, their
names were: John; Susannah; Andrew; Jacob; Adam; Joseph; Mary Ann;
Catherine E.; Sarah Ann; Magdelena; William; Amos; Lydia; Francis
"Frank"; and Phebe.

1850 OH Census they were living in troy Twp., Ashland Co., OH in which
cnesus she is called Calvina and were still ther in 1860. About 1864
they went to Steuben Co., IN where they had land in the NE quarter of
section 7.

1850 OH Census, Columbiana Co., Butler Twp: Samuel Wolf [40 y/o b. OH],
has Mary A. Fetterhoff [21 y/o female b. PA] living with him and his 6
children. Is she the mother of the youngest child, John B. age 1 yr.?

1870 IN census: Farmer, real estate valued at $6,000., personal
property valued at $1500. Living in Steuben Twp., Steuben Co., IN.
Children at home: Amos (17 yrs), Lydia (15 yrs), Francis (13yrs), and
Phebe (11 yrs).

"William Wolf and his wife, Catherine (Fetterhoof) Wolf after their
marriage, in 1[848] moved to [Troy Twp.] Ashland Co., OH, and in 1864 to
Steuben Co., IN settling on the NE quarter of section 7, Steuben Twp,
where William developed into a prosperous farmer." [History of Northeast
IN]

[12/27/96: Perusing the 1850 OH Census in Ashland and Columbiana
Counties Peter Wolf [51 y/o b. VA] found in Columbiana Co., with Nancy
[37 y/o female b. NJ] Abigail Gauntz [64 y/o female b. NJ], children Ann
A. [15 y/o female b. OH] and Henry [8 y/o male b. OH]. Is he related to
William as both were born in VA??
Phillip Wolf [66 y/o male b. VA] with Mary [60 y/o female b. MA]
and
children Phillip [26 y/o male b. OH] and Jacob [22 y/o male b. OH] the
men in this family are engaged in farming.
Adam Wolf [28 y/o male b. VA] wife Lucinda [26 y/o female b. OH]
children: L. [7 y/o female]. M. I. [5 y/o female], Louis [4 y/o male],
M. 4 y/o female], M.M. 1 y/o female, and Margaret 18 y/o female all fo
these children were born in OH. Margaret may be a sister to Adam.

They had at least 17 children. See History of Lorain Co., OH p. 1052,
which says that they moved to Troy Twp., Ashland Co., OH in 1848, and
later to Steuben Co., IN.

from J.A. Childers: Jonas Dahuff and his wife Rebecca died without
obituaries, this couple m. Columbiana Co., OH 12 May 1839. Jonas b. 1
Feb 1817 and died 11 Aug 1880
Rebecca b. 20 Jun1818 d. 28 Sep 1862, both are buried at Mt. Zion
cemetery as well as most of their children.

"I am not 100% sure that Rebecca is a daughter of Adam Wolf"
Columbiana Co., OH has a WOLF Cemetery with Dahuff and Wolf buried
there.
2 sons of Jonas & Rebecca were in the Civil War from Steuben Co. 1
son moved to WI and was not heard from after Jul., 1895.
