JACOB DAGGETT ABBEY, 16 Oct 1823 - 10 Jan 1905

   Jacob D. Abbey, son of Alanson and Lucy Abbey, was born 
Oct. 16. 1823, near Clyde, Ohio, and died Jan. 10, 1905, aged 
81 years, 2 months and 25 days.
   He was of a family of eight children all having proceded  
(sic) him to the life beyond but his two brothers, Giles T. 
Abbey, of Waterloo, Ind., and George J., of Bronson, Kansas.  
He was married Dec. 24, 1848, to Eliza A. Gilbert.  To them 
were born three children, Rosealtha, Orrin J. and Jeanette, 
the son dying at the age of 17 years.  Jacob D. Abbey came to 
the state of Indiana in 1838 at the age of 15 years.  After 
his marriage he settled on a farm one mile south of Pleasant 
Lake and lived there about seven years when he moved to the 
farm three miles southeast of Pleasant Lake which he owned at 
the time of his death.  In August, 1862, he enlisted in the 
Civil War, Co. H, 74 Regiment, and served until its close.  
In 1889 he and his wife moved to Pleasant Lake where he spent 
the remainder of his life.  He leaves a wife, two daughters, 
two brothers with many relatives and friends to mourn their 
loss, they committing him to his Heavenly Father, who deals 
justly with all of his children.

   Jacob Daggett Abbey, 16 Oct 1823 - 10 Jan 1905, married 
Eliza A. (Gilbert) Abbey, 24 Aug 1826 - 06 Nov 1915.  They 
are buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, 
Indiana.  Jacob was the son of Alanson Abbey, 16 Jan 1792 - 
22 Mar 1877, and Lucy Mary Ann (Daggett) Abbey, 1795 - 1840.  
They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.  Eliza was the 
daughter of Beladiah and Anna Gilbert.

CHILDREN:

   Rosealtha/Rosaltha (Abbey) 04 Nov 1849 - 01 Aug 1932, 
married John P. Renner, 30 Jan 1847 - 14 Oct 1931.  They are 
buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, 
Indiana.  John was the son of John Renner, 19 Sep 1803 - 29 
Oct 1889, and Julia Renner who died 30 Sep 1891, aged 91 
years.  The parents are buried at Hamilton Cemetery, Steuben 
County, Indiana.
   Orrin J. Abbey, 1854 - 16 Mar 1871, buried at Pleasant 
Lake Cemetery. 
   Jeanette/Janett Abby, 1863, no further information.
   Cassius Abbey, born 1870 is listed as a son on the 1880 
United States Census, Steuben, Steuben County, Indiana, 
Family History Library #1254312, NA Film Number T9-0312, Page 
#302B.  Cassius also has an IGI Individual Record on 
familysearch.  He is not mentioned in the obituary or in the 
1885 History.
