JOHN ABBOTT, 07 Jun 1847 - 02 May 1905

                       John Abbott
Was born June 7, 1847, at Auburn, DeKalb county, Indiana, and 
came to Jackson Prairie in 1853, and in 1865, moved to the 
farm which was his home until March 16, 1905, when he moved 
to Angola.  Three weeks before his death, feeling poorly, he 
came home and passed away May 2, 1905.  In the fall of 1875 
he was married to Miss Laura Robinson, of Jackson township.  
To this union were born two sons, Jay R. and John L., who 
together with his wife, one step-son, three granddaughters, 
two sisters and one half-brother remain to mourn his death.  
In his home life he was kind and patient, a good husband and 
father, loving his home and all that pertained to it.  He was 
industrious, most of his farm having been cleared by his own 
labor.  He knew the pioneer life, the hardships and 
privations of early days and passed through it all with a 
steady plod and patient life.  He was kind and helpful, 
upright and honest.  In his religious life he believed God 
dealt with man according to his deeds.  His passing away is 
deeply regretted by a large circle of friends and neighbors, 
and we trust that the labor and goodness of his life have won 
for him a place in the heart of his Great Father in the land 
where there shall be no more toil, nor sin, nor death.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

   John Abbott, 07 Jun 1847 - 02 May 1905, on 08 Nov 1876 in 
Branch County, Michigan, married Laura J. (Goodrich) Robinson 
Abbott, 07 Jan 1849 - 07 Jul 1914.  They are buried at 
Jackson Prairie Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  John was 
the son of Melver and Mary W. (____) Abbott.  Laura was the 
daughter of John and Mattie (Ellis) Goodrich.  Laura's 1st 
husband was Chauncey Robinson, no dates and place of burial 
unknown.

CHILDREN OF THE MARRIAGE OF John and Laura:
   Jay R. Abbott, 30 May 1876 - 15 Nov 1962, married Flora 
(Sams) Abbott, born in Branch County, Michigan, 07 Jul 1877 - 
10 Apr 1975.  Flora was the daughter of Daniel N. Sams, 1852 
- 1923, and Martha Ann (Johns) Sams, 1853 - 1940.  They are 
all buried at Jackson Prairie Cemetery.
   John L. Abbott, 09 May 1880 - Aug 1962, married Dora M. 
Hanson, 1877 - 1949.  They are buried at Jackson Prairie 
Cemetery.

STEP-SON, CHILD OF LAURA'S MARRIAGE TO CHAUNCEY ROBINSON:
   Albert Robinson, born about 1869, living in Canada when 
his mother died per her obituary.  The 1880 United States 
Census lists him as Albert Abbott, age 11.
