STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 1904, page 1, column 6 LYMAN A. ABBOTT, M.D., 22 Dec 1838 - 13 Apr 1904 Lyman Abbott, son of Samuel J. and Deborah Abbott, was born in Victory, Cayuga county, N. Y., December 22, 1838; died in Fremont, Ind., April 13, 1904, aged 65 years, 3 months and 20 days. In 1860 he was married to Miss Clara Allport, of Wolcott, N. Y. and to this union was born one daughter, Eva. In 1862 he enlisted in N. Y. Vol. Inf., and served two years, when he was taken sick and sent to hospital, from which illness he never fully recovered. In 1869 he was again married to Mrs. Abbie Cornell, of Victory, N.Y. and to them was born one son, Guy V. Abbott, of Fremont, Ind. His wife died in 1894, and in 1895 he was married to Mrs. Harriet Seydel, of Fremont, who survives him, with his daughter, Eva Mallory, of Los Angeles, Cal; one son, Guy V. Abbott, and grandson, Basil Glenwood Abbott, of Fremont, and four sisters, all of whom were present at the funeral. He also leaves three stepchildren. In 1869 he began the practice of medicine at Eel River, Ind. From that place he moved to Eaton county, Mich., and in 1870 came to Fremont, which has since been his home. He was a Mason and a member of the I. O. O. F., and both orders attended the funeral. Dr. Abbot was a man of marked ability and has enjoyed the respect and esteem of a large circle of friends. No information on Clara's burial place. Lyman was the son of Samuel J. Abbott, 31 Oct 1808 - 26 Nov 1889, aged 81 years and 26 days, and Eliza/Deborah (Burghduff) Abbott, who died 02 Oct 1901 aged 86 years. They are buried at Fremont Cemetery. Lyman married 2nd, Abbie (_______) Cornell who died 14 Jul 1894, aged 57 years. She is buried at Fremont Cemetery. No information in Cemetery Books concerning the dates of death and burial places of his 3rd wife, Harriet (_______) Seydel and his children, Eva (Abbott) Mallory and Guy V. Abbott.
