AMERMAN, 20 Jan 1848 - 16 Sep 1908 GARRETT F. AMERMAN, oldest child of Peter D. and Gittie Margaret Amerman, was born in Richland county, Ohio, January 20th, 1848, and died in Logansport, Ind., September 16, 1908, aged 60 years, 7 months and 26 days. When he was a child his parents moved from Richland county, Ohio, and located in Salem township, Steuben county, Ind., on the Amerman farm in the year 1851. With the exception of a few years service on the police force in Chicago, Ill., Mr. Amerman was a resident of Salem township most of his life. Twenty-four years ago he was married to Miss Cynthia Bryan, of Salem, who survives him. He is also survived by two brothers, William and Henry, and by two sisters, Mrs. Ida Woodford and Mrs. Addie Wilson. All these with several nephews and nieces and many friends mourn his departure. Mr Amerman was a very active member of lodge No.639 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Salem Center, being one of it charter members. He was held in very high esteem by his neighbors and friends which was shown by the very large attendance at the funeral services which was conducted at Salem Center by the Rev. M. S. Marble, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church in Angola, Ind. Interment took place at the Block cemetery. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Garrett F. Garrett was the son of Peter D. Amerman, 16 May 1825 - 14 Mar 1899, and "Gittie" Margaret (Hall) Amerman, 18 Sep 1827 - 01 Feb 1905, daughter of Peter and Lovina (____) Hall. Peter and Gittie are also buried at Block Cemetery. SIBLINGS: William S. Amerman, 1855 - 1944, 1st married Frances R. (Silvey) Amerman, 1858 - 1911. His 2nd wife was Lillie (Hall) Harpham Amerman, no further information. William and Frances are buried at Block Cemetery. Henry N. Amerman, 05 Mar 1861 - 23 Oct 1923, married Eva S. (Jackman) Amerman, 23 Mar 1858 - 11 Apr 1936. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. Ida Elnora (Amerman) Woodford, 06 Oct 1857 - 04 Nov 1934, married Frank Woodford, 10 Apr 1856 - 21 Sep 1902. They are buried at Block Cemetery. Addie (Amerman) Wilson married Edson Wilson. They are not listed in the Cemetery Book but a son, Glen W. Wilson, 14 Apr 1888 - 29 May 1970, and his wife, Bertha May (McNair) Wilson, 09 May 1890 - 10 Jul 1980, daughter of Reuben F. and Eva Bell (Aldrich) McNair, are buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland, Steuben County, Indiana.
