VALLERA A McKIBBEN AMES, (Mrs. Thomas Ames) (29 Jun 1895 - 26 Mar 1926) Vallera A. McKibben was born June 29th, 1895, at Burr Oak, Michigan. She lived there with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert McKibben, just one month. From this place the family moved to Orland, Indiana, three and one-half miles South and East, on a farm. When Vallera was 22 months old, another little soul was born into the family, a sister by name, Jessie Margorite, who passed from this life at the age of two and one-half years. Three and one-half years afterward, the family moved to a larger cattle farm. While here, the father died, leaving Vallera and her mother behind. Vallera was consecrated to Christ at the age of seven. She became a firm believer in and practicer of Christianity and after coming to Hudson, she united with the First Methodist Episcopal Church, where her membership still remains. She graduated from the Hudson High School with the class of 1915. Two years later, she was united in marriage to Thomas Ames. Two children were born, Albert and Lillian, who still survive. Her mother and many relatives and a host of friends remain to mourn her loss. She departed this life on Friday morning, March 26th at the home of her Mother. She will be laid to rest in the cemetery at Orland, Indiana.
