JOHN ANSPAUGH, 18 Jun 1820 - 05 Jun 1904

   John Anspaugh was born in Starke county, Ohio, June 18, 1820, and died 
at his home near Metz, Indiana, June 5, 1904, aged 83 years, 11 months and 
18 (13?) days.
  April 27, 1847, he was united in marriage to Sarah Cain, who survives 
him.  To them were born seven children, six of whom are living.  When a 
young man he united with the Methodist church, and on moving to Metz, 
transferred his membership to the United Brethren church of that place, in 
which he was a member until his death.  He was a faithful husband, devoted 
father, always a kind and obliging neighbor, ready at all times to minister 
to the sick or those in need.  He leaves a wife, six children, nine grand 
children and two great grand children, one brother, and a large circle of 
friends to mourn their loss.
   Uncle John will long be remembered for his jovial disposition and his 
cheery face given above bears witness to this fact.  He could see a bright 
side to every circumstance in life, and took pleasure in helping his 
friends to also discover it.  Funeral services were held at Mt. Pleasant, 
June 6, conducted by Rev. Baldwin.  Burial near the church.

1847, married Sarah Ann Cain, 11 Oct 1830 - 24 Jun 1932, AGE 101 YEARS, 8 
MONTHS AND 13 DAYS.  They are buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Steuben 
County, Indiana.  John was the son of Jacob and Barbara Anspaugh.  Sarah 
was the daughter of Samuel Cain and his 1st wife, Hester Cain.

Children:

  Jacob Andrew Jackson Anspaugh, 24 Apr 1850 - 1937, on 01 Jan 1873, 
married Sarah E. (Allomong) Anspaugh, 23 Jul 1852 - 24 May 1924, daughter 
of Joseph Allomong who died 09 Oct 1889 and Catherine (Klingman) Allomong 
who died 14 Apr 1869. Jacob and Sarah are buried a Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. 
Joseph and Catherine Allomong are buried at Bethel Cemetery, Steuben 
County, Indiana.
  Samuel Adams Anspaugh, 16 Jul 1852 - 1934, on 11 Jan 1876, married 
Margaret (Cameron) Anspaugh, 15 Dec 1852 - Oct 1938, daughter of John 
Cameron, 21 Dec 1814 - 01 Apr 1878 (or 04 Apr 1878), and Mary (Carlin) 
Cameron, 05 Feb 1823 - 15 Nov 1895.  They are all buried at Mt. Pleasant 
Cemetery.
  Benjamin Anspaugh died in his 7th year.  Burial place unknown.
  Hester Ann (Anspaugh) Bowles, on 09 Oct 1884, married Charles D. Bowles.  
Burial place unknown.
  John L. Anspaugh, 04 Sep 1860 - 1939, on 05 Sep 1885, married Cora B. 
(Richardson) Anspaugh, 1867 - 1937.  They are buried at Circle Hill 
Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.
  Amanda J. (Anspaugh) Flegal, 1863 - 1935, on 18 Feb 1883, married John W. 
Flegal, 1857 - 1939.  They are buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
  Henry Grant Anspaugh, 1865 - 1953, on 23 Jan 1898, married Maud Tabor, 
May 1874 - Jul 1944.  The cemetery book says Henry is buried at Mt. 
Pleasant Cemetery and Maud is buried at Sowle Cemetery, Steuben County, 
Indiana.
