BACHELOR, 24 Apr 1825 - 29 Jan 1905 Amos Bachelor was born in Lake county, Ohio, April 24, 1825, and died at his home in Angola, Ind., January 29th, 1905, aged 79 years, 9 months and 8 days. He came with his parents to Steuben county in 1837, and has been a resident of this county most of the time since that date. In early life he united with the Baptist church at Lake Gage, and ever afterward kept the faith, saying he was ready to go when the summons should come. February 21, 1850, he was united in marriage to Susan Burroughs. To this union were born five children, one of which died in infancy. The wife, one daughter, three sons, two brothers, one sister, six grandchildren, together with many other relatives and friends are left to mourn. Hannah's 2nd husband was Elijah Owen, 31 Dec 1799 - 06 Nov 1864. Hannah and Elijah are buried at Lake Gage Cemetery. Susan was the daughter of the Rev. Truman Burroughs, born about 1800, and Lydia (Dudley) Burroughs. CHILDREN: Miles Bachelor, 24 Jul 1852 - 07 Sep 1852, buried at Lake Gage Cemeteery. Ira Truman Bachelor, 14 Aug 1853 - 23 Mar 1920, on 07 Oct 1873, married Alpha Etta (Patterson) Bachelor, 23 May 1856 - 07 Oct 1934. They are buried at Jamestown Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Ira was buried at Lake Gage Cemetery and then moved to Jamestown Cemetery when Alpha Etta died. Ellen Lucy (Bachelor) Campbell, 01 Jan 1851 - 1934, married James Campbell. Ellen is buried at Lake Gage Cemetery; James' burial place unknown. James Fremont Bachelor, 19 Mar 1856 - Jul 1927, on 23 Dec 1885, married Harriette (Ebberts) Bachelor, 1863 - 1941. They are buried at Lake Gage Cemetery. Elmer Bachelor, age 19 in 1880 U. S.
