Obituary: Baker, Edward Edward Baker - Died at his home in Pleasant township Steuben Co., IN Feb. 17, 1909, aged 88 years 1 mo 16 days. Deceased was born Hackonby Lincolnshire, England Jan. 1, 1821, and on Jan. 21, 1847, he was united in marriage with Susan Sandall of Stainfield, Lincolnshire, England. To this union were born 7 children, 5 daughters and 2 sons. The 2 eldest daughters dying in infancy. For 52 years, Mr. Baker was blessed with the companionship of his wife who suddenly died May 4, 1899. They emigrated from England April 11, 1850 and landed in NY, May 14, 1850 and settled in LaGrange Co., living there 8 years. They then purchased the farm home on which he lived for 45 years in Pleasant township near Angola. He was united in a second marriage to Clara Jones Dec. 5, 1900. In early childhood he was baptized in the Church of England and life's years with trying experiences, but served to increase his faith in Him whom not having seen he loved, and in whom believing he rejoiced with joy unspeakable that came to him in the morning. He was a kind and affectionate companion, loving father, and a good citizen, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He leaves to mourn his loss, five children, 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, one brother, and a host of friends.
