(WHITE) BARCALOW, 02 Jul 1804 - 20 Feb 1891 Died, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. B. Allman, Mrs. Martha A. Barcalow, aged 86 years, 7 months and 18 days. Martha W. White was born in eastern Pennsylvania, July 2, 1804, where she lived until 1833 when she was married to John Barcalow and moved to Seneca county, Ohio. In 1845 they moved to Williams county, and there located about three and one-half miles northwest of Montpelier, where they endured the hardships of pioneer life for many years. They came to Metz where she has since resided. Early in life she united with the Episcopal church and later with the Presbyterians and so long as health permitted she was an earnest worker in that church. She was the mother of five children, only one of whom lived to comfort her in her old age. She departed this life February 20, the funeral occurring February 22, at Christian church in Metz, Rev. Robinett officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Nartha A. (White) Barcalow, 02 Jul 1804 - 20 Feb 1891, married John Barcalow, 27 Mar 1800 - 29 Mar 1880. They are buried at Metz, Steuben County, Indiana. Daughter, Ellen (Barcalow) Allman, 29 Sep 1833 - 15 Feb 1902, on 15 Jan 1856, married Barnabas Allman, 20 Mar 1833 - 28 Dec 1888. They are buried at Metz, Steuben County, Indiana. He was the son of James Allman, 06 May 1806 - 13 Sep 1846, married on 11 Jun 1829 to Margaret (Anspaugh) Allman, born 25 Sep 1810, who was still living when the 1885 History of Steuben County was written.
