FREDERICA (WEICHT) FREYGANG BARR, 13 Jun 1817 - 04 Mar 1891 DIED-In Angola, March 4, 1891, Mrs. Fredrica Barr, aged 73 years, 8 months and 19 days. Fredrica Weicht was born in Emmendingen, Baden, Germany, June 13, 1817, and came to New York in 1832 with her father, Dr. T. F. Weicht, and for about three years lived in Newark, N.J., then moving to Wooster, Ohio. In 1839 she was married to C. J. Freygang and resided in Uniontown, Stark county, Ohio, until 1845, when they moved to Steuben county. Her husband died August 7, 1868, and on October 20, 1869, she was married to James Barr, who died April 16, 1881. Six children survive her-Harmon, Edward and Julius Freygang, Mrs. Geo. E. Young, Mrs. H. P. Hathaway and Mrs. Joseph W. Burch. All were present at the funeral except Julius, who lives at Fairhaven, Wash. The funeral took place at the M. E. church on last Saturday, Rev. J. A. Beatty officiating. Mrs. Barr was a woman loved by all, one who found her highest happiness in doing good to others and in making others happy. Her 1st husband was Charles Julius Freygang who died 07 Aug 1868. Frederica was the daughter of Dr. Lewis Frederick/Frederick Lewis Weicht who died 31 May 1857, aged 66 years, 3 months and 27 days, and Fredericka (Eckhart) Weicht who died 01 Apr 1857, aged 64 years. They are all buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. On 20 Oct 1869, Frederica married her 2nd husband, James Barr, 01 Nov 1793 - 16 Apr 1881. His 1st wife was Elizabeth (Thompson) Barr, 12 Sep 1796 - 09 May 1866. They are buried at Old Angola Cemetery. SOME OF THE CHILDREN FROM THE FIRST MARRIAGE: Harmon/Herman Freygang, 04 Mar 1840 - 22 May 1913, married Irene (Wakefield) Freygang, 1841 - 1901. They are buried at Old Angola Cemetery. Irene was the daughter of H. A. and S. Wakefield. Amelia (Freygang) Carpenter Hathaway, born in 1850 per the 1880 United States Census, was the 2nd wife of Henry P. Hathaway, 25 Nov 1821 - 12 Nov 1914. His 1st wife was Frances C. (Jagger) Hathaway, 29 Oct 1820 - 16 Dec 1880. They are buried at York Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. FREDERICA'S SIBLINGS: William Charles Weicht, M.D., 15 Apr 1822 - 04 Nov 1889, married Elizabeth N. (Neubauer) Weicht, 22 Sep 1822 - 04 Nov 1894. They are buried at Old Angola Cemetery. Frederick Lewis H. Weicht, M.D., about 1819 - 21 Jan 1874, married Susan (McEntaffer) Weicht Dole St.Clair, 01 Jun 1827 - 02 Apr 1902. They are buried at Old Angola Cemetery. After Dr. Weicht's death, Susan married John M. Dole. After Mr. Dole's death, she married John C. St.Clair. Louisa Weicht, about 18 Jan 1820 - 11 Oct 1897. She is buried at Old Angola Cemetery. Charles A. Weicht, about 1826 - 13 Feb 1874. He is buried at Old Angola Cemetery. The 1850 census lists his age as 24. Ernest C. Weicht, about 1828 - 21 Aug 1845. He is buried at Old Angola Cemetery. Leopold Edward Weicht, 06 Aug 1830 - 07 Feb 1896, married Catharine (Schaab) Weicht, 03 Aug 1832 - 25 Dec 1896. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. Leopold was the founder of Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana, which is now under the management of the 5th and 6th generations. This is being written in 2005.
