STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, February 15, 1899, pg. 1, col.6 JOHN BEVINGTON At his home in Otsego township, Steuben county, Ind., Feb. 12, 1899, John Bevington, aged 81 years 9 months and 3 days. Mr. Bevington was born in Beaver county, Pennsylvania, May 9, 1818. On Nov. 19, 1840, he was married to Phebe Williams. To this union was born eight children. His wife and seven children preceded him to the spirit land. He was highly esteemed in the community in which he lived. He served as justice of the peace over twenty-five years, was a member of the U. B. Church and believed in the Christ as a Savior and Redeemer. He leaves one daughter, one grandson, two great granddaughters and two sisters, one 86 and the other 84 years old to mourn his loss. Funeral services at the Powers church, conducted by Elder D. C. Rebecca Bevington, died 28 Mar 1878, aged 29 years, 3 months and 28 days. John A. Bevington, died 05 Sep 1860, aged 1 year, 6 months and 24 days. "Infant" Bevington, no dates listed.
