STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 1902 ELIZABETH (STALEY) BIXLER, 22 Dec 1824 - 18 Mar 1902 Elizabeth Staley, daughter of Rev. John and Susannah Staley, was born Dec.22, 1824. She with her parents, brothers and sisters, moved to Steuben county, Feb. 1836. Was united in marriage to Andrew Bixler, June 24, 1841. To this union was born 13 children. Of whom 7 survive her. Mrs. Nancy Hovarter, Custer, Indiana; Mrs. William Gindlesparger, Kendallville, Indiana; Mrs. W. X. Smith, Dover, Michigan; Mrs. Ephriam Shipe, Mrs. John W. Shore and Sumner Bixler all of Angola, Ind., and H. O. Bixler, of Toledo, Ohio. The deceased at an early age united with the Bapist church, and later she identified herself with the M. E. church, of which she remained a member until death. She was a woman of strong character and did her duty as she saw it. Funeral was held March 20, at the M. E. church, at Custer. Rev. Magor, of Kendallville, officiating; burial at Fairfield Center. Elizabeth is buried at Fairfield Center, no information on Andrew. Elizabeth's parents are Rev. John Stealy, 07 Apr 1793/94 - 17Aug 1848/49, aged 55 years, 4 months and 10 days, and Susanna H. (Seitze) Stealy, 16 Jul 1801 - 14 Mar 1875. Aged 73 years, 7 months and 29 days. They are buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben Co., IN. CHILDREN: Martha M. (Bixler) Shipe, 16 Oct 1846 - 12 Jan 1923, married Ephriam Shipe, 01 Aug 1847 - 20 Apr 1940. Diantha (Bixler) Smith, 1850 - 1940, married William S. Smith, 06 Jul 1852 - 27 Mar 1933. Lucy J. (Bixler) Shore, 1852 - 1938, married John W. Shore, 19 May 1838 - 26 Apr 1925. Sumner W. Bixler, 1858 - 1916, married Ginerva B. (Brugh) Bixler, 1864 - 1949. These children and spouses are all buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben county, Indiana. Some siblings of Elizabeth: Christian Stealy, 13 Dec 1818 - 21 May 1883, married Catharine (Wrighter) Stealy. John H. Stealy, died Feb 1862, killed in Civil War. Lewis Stealy, 02 Nov 1825 - 21 Jul 1907, no marriage listed in Cemetery book. All are buried at Old Angola Cemetery.
