IRA BRATTON, 22 Mar 1829 - 18 Jul 1882

Bratton---At Edon, Ohio, July 18, 1882, Ira Bratton, age 53 
years, 4 months and 6 days.

   The deceased was born in Mifflin county, Penn., and moved 
to Williams county, Ohio, in 1843, settling on the farm which 
he occupied at the time of his death.  Though his health had 
been very poor for some time his death was sudden.  He was 
last seen about one o'clock Tuesday afternoon, when he left 
the house, for the barn.  At supper time, as he had not 
returned, search was made, resulting in the finding of his 
body in the cow stable, appearances indicating that he had 
been dead several hours.  A wife and seven children are left 
to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband and father.  His 
two sons, E. A. Bratton, of this place, and A. T. Bratton, of 
Beaver City, Neb., who is visiting here, were sent for, and 
arrived there the same night.  The funeral occurred 
Wednesday, the sermon being preached by Rev. M. Dunlap, of 
West Jefferson.

married Deborah Worthington (Thomas) Bratton, 23 Dec 1830 - 
07 Jan 1919.  They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, 
Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.  Ira was the son of James 
and Isabella (______) Bratton.  Deborah was the daughter of 
Moses and Prudence (Worthington) Thomas.

ALL THEIR CHILDREN WERE BORN IN WILLIAMS COUNTY, OHIO:

   Alcinous T. Bratton, 24 Dec 1852 - 13 Nov 1931, married 
Hattie S. (Stevens) Bratton, born in 1854.  Alcinous, age 28, 
Hattie, age 26, were listed on the 1880 United States Census, 
Beaver City, Furnas County, Nebraska, Family History Library 
Film #1254749, NA Film #T9-0749, page #680C.  Alcinous was a 
lawyer.
   Emmet A. Bratton, 16 Jul 1855 - 18 Sep 1923, on 21 Feb 
1883, married his 1st wife, Delaphine/Della (Rice) Bratton, 
29 Jan 1862 - 27 Jan 1914.  They are buried at Circle Hill 
Cemetery.  Delaphine was the daughter of Dr. Cornelius 
Dalford Rice, 01 Dec 1827 - 04 Jan 1875, who is buried at 
Circle Hill Cemetery, and Martha (Moffett) Rice Weldin, no 
dates available.  As a widow, on 18 Dec 1889, Martha married 
Major Leander F. Weldin, 1839 - 10 Jun 1913.  Leander is 
buried with his 1st wife, Rebecca J. (____) Weldin, 1839 - 
1887, at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  
Emmet's 2nd wife was Jennie (Brown) Golden Bratton, 26 Mar 
1864 - 19 Jun 1934, who is buried beside her 1st husband, 
Frank C. Golden, 12 Nov 1862 - 31 Jul 1911, at Flint 
Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  Jennie was the daughter 
of Morris and Catherine (Klink) Brown. 
   Clara Thomas (Bratton) Garwood, 26 Nov 1857 - 1931, on 06 
Jun 1876, married Madison M. Garwood, 1853 - 1932.  They are 
buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.
   Phebe J. (Bratton) Haverstock, 24 Sep 1859 - 05 May 1904, 
on 07 Feb 1883, married Frank L. Haverstock.  Phebe is buried 
at Winfield, Kansas.  Frank's burial place unknown.
   Osborne S. Bratton, 12 Sep 1861 - 29 Sep 1861, possibly 
buried at Williams County, Ohio.
   Elvada S. (Bratton) Kimmel, 18 Nov 1862 - no date of 
death.  In 1885 or 1887, married David C. Kimmel, born Mar 
1853, no date of death.  Their burial place unknown.  He was 
the son of Adam and Eliza (Culbertson) Kimmel.
   Delilah/Dellah Bratton, born 1867, no other information.
   Alma Lucy (Bratton) Powers, 01 Jul 1869 - 27 Jan 1935, on 
13 Oct 1892, married Frank Leo Powers, 11 Dec 1867 - 13 Mar 
1945.  Alma is buried at St. Paul, Minnesota.  Frank's burial 
place unknown.  Frank L. Power's grandparents were Winn 
Powers, 08 Dec 1801 - 24 Jun 1883, and Betsey (Reeves) 
Powers, 11 May 1801 - 14 Apr 1875.  Winn and Betsey Powers 
were part of the Powers caravan who were the pioneer settlers 
of York Township, Steuben County, Indiana.
