STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, 09 FEB 1887, p.8, c.2 SALLY (BOLSTER) BROWN, 01 JUL 1808 - 06 FEB 1887 DIED At the home of her grandson Frank Brown, in Jackson township, Feb. 6, 1887, Sarah Brown, aged 78 years, 7 months and 5 days. She was the daughter of Eastman and Marion Bolster, and was born in Sullivan, Vermont, July 1, 1808. She was married to Harvey Brown in Hardwick, Hampshire county, Mass., Sept. 17, 1826, with whom she continued to live as a faithful and loving wife until her death, a period of more than sixty years. She, with her husband moved to Jackson township Oct. 1, 1846, where they have since lived. She was the mother of five children, three of whom, with her aged husband, survive her. She also leaves seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of the M. E. church from early youth, living an exemplary, christian life, and died strong in the christian faith. Brown who was born in Massachusetts in 1829 per 1885 History and 1828 per Cemetery Book, died in 1915. He married Ursula (Stocker) Brown, born 28 Mar 1834 in Jamaica, VT; died 19 Jan 1909, daughter of John Stocker, 28 Oct 1784 - 21 Sep 1849, and Betsey (Howard) Stocker, 07 Mar 1790 - 14 May 1849. George and Ursula are buried at Lake Gage Cemetery. John and Betsey Stocker are buried in Memorial Grove Cemetery, Steuben County, IN. CHILDREN OF GEORGE AND URSULA'S MARRIAGE: The first four are listed in the "History of Steuben County, IN, 1885" as well as the Cemetery books, SON: Frank Brown, 1854 - 27 Aug 1927, on 10 Sep 1873, he married Sarah (Sadie on the marriage license) A. (Ebbert) Brown, 1852 - 1929. They are buried at Lake Gage Cemetery. She was the daughter of Hiram Ebbert who died 08 Jun 1889, age 72y, 8m.29d, and Maria (Jackson) Ebbert, 08 Feb 1818 - 02 Nov 1910. They are buried at Flint Cemetery, Steuben County, IN. SON: Irving H. Brown, 18 Jan 1856 - 18 Aug 1915, on 22 Feb 1877, married Ida A. (Hastings) Brown, 15 Dec 1857 - 01 Jan 1915. They are buried at Lake Gage Cemetery. They were the parents of Don Carl Brown, 01 Jan 1891 - 02 Dec 1975, who married Bertice Eliza (Purdy) Brown, 18 Oct 1894 -20 May 1975 who descended from the pioneer Stayner family and the pioneer Powers family. Carl and Bertice Brown are buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland, Steuben County, IN, which is very close to the home where they lived in Orland for many years.. DGTR: Elizabeth H. (Brown) Ransberg, 1863 - 1930, on 15 Mar 1885, married Don Carlos (Carl on marriage license) Ransberg, 16 Mar 1862 - 16 Jun 1934. Don Carlos was the son of John Thomas Ransberg, 15 Mar 1835 - 23 Jul 1907, and Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Ransberg, 1838 - 1906. They are all buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, IN. SON: Chester H. Brown, Nov 1869 - 1947, on 26 Mar 1893, married his 1st wife, Lola A. (Davis) Brown, 22 May 1870 - 21 Jun 1904. His 2nd wife was Verbia B. (Nisonger) Brown, 1883 - 1957. They are buried at Lake Gage Cemetery. Verbia was the daughter of William Nisonger, 1849 - 1925, and Jane (Abbott) Nisonger, 1845 - 1919. They are buried at Jackson Prairie Cemetery, Steuben County, IN. The other children who are listed in the Cemetery Books are: SON: Oscar Roland Brown, 1850 -1861. DGTR: Esterlla J. Brown, 05 Apr 1853 - 22 Jun 1854. DGTR: Addie Brown, 1860 - 1862, this child is on the Lake Gage lot with George and Ursula (Stocker) Brown. They are all buried at Lake Gage Cemetery.
