STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1, 1904, page 1, column 6 CHESTER BURCH, 29 Jul 1848 - 24 May 1904 Chester Burch was born in Otsego township, Steuben county, Indiana, July 29, 1848, and died at his home in Scott township, May 24, 1904, aged 56 years, 8 months and 25 days. On June 28, 1868, he was united in marriage with Miss Jane Maxton, and to the union was born one child, now Mrs. Etta Nichols, of Scott township. In 1871 he built a log house and with his wife moved on the land which at the time of his death constituted his farm and pleasant home. He also the same year united with the Christian church and ever remained a faithful member. He was a splendid neighbor, honest and industrious, and by hard work and economy achieved success. He was a great sufferer for many months. He leaves to mourn their loss a wife, daughter, two grandchildren, two sisters, a brother and many friends. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Elder Veach, of Metz, the Odd Fellows having services at the grave. A large number of friends and members of the lodge were in attendance. He is the son of Chester Burch, 22 Mar 1810 - 26 Jan 1879, and Polly (Davis) Burch, 13 Apr 1812 - 13 Oct 1901. His stepfather was Henry Burch, 06 Jul 1822 - 18 Oct 1907. They are buried at North Otsego Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Both of Polly's husbands were sons of Oliver and Anna (Hale) Burch. Daughter, Arzetta/Arsetta (Burch) Nichols, 1872 - 1960, married Solomon Nichols, 1866 - 1942. Arzetta is buried at South Scott cemetery. Solomon is buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.
