JOHN Y. BURKHART, 12 May 1849 - 24 Feb 1904

   John Y. Burkhart, son of Levi and Elizabeth Byers Burkhart, was born in 
Fairfield county, O., May 12, 1849, died at his home in Angola, Indiana, 
February 24, 1904, aged 54 years, 9 months and 12 days.  He was married to 
Carrie Thrapp, Dec. 10, 1872, and to them were born nine children, all of 
whom with the wife survive him.  He came with his family to Angola, Ind., 
in October 1887 and has since resided here.  He was converted in 1884 at 
the Methodist church in Pandora, Ohio, and has for years been a faithful 
worker in the church of his choice.  As a member of the official board he 
was faithful and conscientious in the performance of work committed to his 
care.  As class leader, steward or teacher in the Sunday school he strove 
to do his best.  His is the first death in his immediate family.  His 
wife, three sons, six daughters, five grand children, aged father, one 
brother and three sisters survive him and mourn their loss.  The funeral 
services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. A. G. Neal, of the Methodist 
church, on Friday afternoon, February 25.  Beautiful floral offerings from  
the church and friends gave mute expression to the high  regard in which 
he was held.  An unusually large and sympathetic audience mingled their 
tears with those of the bereaved family.  The trustees of the church with 
loving brotherly hands officiated as pall bearers.  The burial was at 
Circle Hill.

Ohio, married Clara Thrapp, 18 Jan 1850 - 1933, daughter of Newton Baker 
Thrapp, 20 Jun 1812 - 26 Aug 1899, and Barbara (Chambers) Thrapp, 05 May 
1815 - 03 Aug 1898.  John and Clara are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, 
Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.

children in John and Clara's residence, Family History Library, Salt Lake 
City, Utah, Film #1255061, NA Film #T9-1061, page #490D:  Vida Burkhart, 
age 7; Lilly E. Burkhart, age 5; Orwiles Burkhart, age 3; Charles 
Burkhart, age 3 months.

   Charles F. Burkhart, 1879 - 1932, married Anna B. (______) Burkhart, 
1880 - 1934.  They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.
   Bess/Bessie (Burkhart) Weldy, 04 Mar 1884 - 23 Apr 1917, on 09 May 
1912, in Kendallville, Noble County, Indiana, married (Prof.) John H. 
Weldy, 14 Apr 1880 - 23 Apr 1917, son of Christian H. and Lovina C. 
(Cochran) Weldy.  Bess is buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.  
www.familysearch.com has the same date or death for John as the Cemetery 
book has for Bess.  John is not listed in the Cemetery book with Bess.
