STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 1903, page 2, column 5 MARY (PRENTICE) BUTLER, 1801 - 11 Mar 1879 Mrs. Mary Butler, relict of Daniel Butler, died at the old homestead in Salem, March 11, aged 78 years. Deceased came with her husband and family to Steuben county in 1838. (This obituary appeared in the article, "24 Years Ago") ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Mary (Prentice/Prentiss) Butler, 1801 - 11 Mar 1879, about 1823, in N. Hero, Grand Isle, Vermont, married Daniel Butler, born 28 Nov 1793 and died in 1847. Daniel and his wife and family with his brothers, Loren and Jesse and their families, were some of the first settlers in Salem Township in July 1838. Children: Susan Butler resided in Angola, Steuben County, Indiana in 1885. Harriet Butler was deceased before 1885. Henry P. Butler, 16 Mar 1831 - 1886, married Phebe M. (Clark) Butler, 1838 - 23 Sep 1892, daughter of Matthew Clark. Henry and Phebe are buried at Block Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Marvin B. Butler, 15 Feb 1834 - 17 Jun 1914, on 27 Mar 1864, married Harriet M. (Fuller) Butler, 30 Apr 1843 - 01 Jan 1901, daughter of Elsley W. Fuller and 1st wife, Keturah (Sanders) Fuller. Marvin and Harriet are buried a Block Cemetery. Helen M. (Butler) Gillespie, 1836 - 10 Oct 1887, on 24 Dec 1854, married David S. Gillespie, 14 Apr 1835 - 12 Mar 1903. She was his 1st wife.
