STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1, 1904, page 1, column 5 JACOB CARMONY SR., 12 Nov 1822 - 24 May 1904 Jacob Carmony Sr., was born in Annville township, Lebanon county, Penn., Nov. 12, 1822, and died May 24, 1904. Thus the span of his life was eighty-one years, six months and twelve days. On Feb. 2, 1823, he was baptized in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Arnst. In 1828 he came to Wayne county, Ohio, with his parents, arriving in Wooster county, seat of that county, on April 28. In 1853 he came to Steuben county, Ind., where he has resided ever since. In July 1849, July 6, he was married to Barbara Gochenaur, each sharing the joys and sorrows, the victories and defeats of wedded life for fifty-five years. To this union were born nine children, three of whom died in infancy. The six surviving children are Perry, of Kendallville, Ind.; Mrs. Mary Cook, of Kansas; Moses, of Nebraska; and Mrs. Charles Young, Mrs. Jennie Dunham and Mrs. Charles Lane of Steuben county. There are nine grandchildren. He was a respected citizen, a kind neighbor, a loving father and a devoted husband. His funeral was held May 26, at his late residence in Angola conducted by Prof. W. O. Perry and Augusta are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben county, Indiana. William J. Carmony, 24 Nov 1851 - 20 Mar 1857, aged 5 years, 3 months and 26 days. He is buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Mary Carmony Cook was in Kansas in 1904. Elizabeth (Carmony) Lane, 06 Sep 1855 - 10 Jan 1933, on 28 Jun 1894, married Charles C. Lane, who died 18 July 1906, aged 67 years, 3 months and 2 days. Elizabeth is buried at Old Angola Cemetery while Charles is buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. Charles 1st wife was Charlotte (Lotta) M. (Jackson) Carmony, 20 Jun 1847 - 10 Mar 1893. Jenny (Carmony) Dunham, 1858 - 1945, on 25 Dec 1881, married Martin A. Dunham, 19 Jan 1854 - 13 Oct 1927, son of Chester and Amanda (Harper) Dunham. Jenny and Martin are buried at Powers Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Viola (Carmony) Young, 09 Apr 1860 - 10 Sep 1912, on 01 Jan 1890, married Charles E. Young, 03 Mar 1852 - 11 Jun 1925. They are buried at Jordan Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Moses Carmony, born about 1863, was in Nebraska in 1904. Jacob Carmony (Jr.?), 09 Jun 1865 - 26 Mar 1872, aged 6 years, 9 months and 17 days. Buried at Old Angola Cemetery.
