STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 1903, page 1, column 6 LYDIA (JACKSON) KEMP CARY, 19 Apr 1819 - 06 Dec 1903 Lydia Jackson was born at Carlisle, Cumberland county, Pennsylvania, April 19, 1819, and died at her home near Angola, Dec. 6, 1903. Aged 84 years, 8 months and 13 days. In early youth the family of which she was a member, moved to Huron county, Ohio, where she was married to Abner Kemp about the year 1836. With him she came to Steuben county in 1837, settling on the farm one-half mile south of Angola, where she has since resided. She passed through all the experiences and hardships of pioneer life and saw Steuben county grow from a wilderness to its present condition of improvement and culture. Her husband died in 1851. She was the mother of two children, one of whom died in early childhood. The survivor, John Kemp, resides on the old farm where his parents settled sixty five years ago. Son, John Kemp, 1840 - 1919, married Cordelia (Fuller) Kemp, 09 Dec 1844 - 23 Apr 1918. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.
