STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1904, page 4, column 2 ANDREW JACKSON CASE, 12 Oct 1828 - 14 Nov 1904 Andrew J. Case was born in Turin, Lewis county, New York, Oct. 12, 1828, and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Rhoda Carter, near Angola, Ind., Nov. 14, 1904. When eight years old he removed with his parents to Ohio, and remained there until 1854. In the spring of 1850, he was married to Julia Courtright, and about four years later they moved to Steuben county where they remained about two years, going from here to Illinois. In 1872 they moved to Kansas where they remained about nine years returning to Knox county, Illinois, in 1881. There in 1891, Mrs. Case died and a few years later Mr. Case returned to Angola and has since made his home here. There survives him two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Carter and Mrs. Elsie Bryan and two brothers, Daniel and Nelson. Of Mr. Case's children two girls died at an early age and one son, M. M. Case, is still living. Mr. Case is one of the early settlers and a man well known to many of the older inhabitants of this section. Funeral services were held at the Fairview church and the interment was in the family lot at the old cemetery north of town. Services conducted by Elder Vernon Stauffer. Andrew is buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. CHILDREN: Alice Case, died 06 Nov 1854, aged 1 year, 10 months and 20 days, buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Row C-Stone 22. Kate Case, 03 Nov 1856 - 26 Nov 1864, age 8 years and 23 days, buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Row C-Stone 23. ANDREW'S SIBLINGS: Rhoda Ann (Case) Carter, 1826 - 1912, on 03 Feb 1848, married Harrison Carter, 08 Feb 1823 - 17 Jul 1894. They are buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Row C-Stone 27. Elsie E. (Alice on the marriage license) (Case) Bryan, on 11 Oct 1854 married Eleazar M. Bryan, burial place unknown. Two children of theirs are listed in the cemetery book, page 235: Claudie A. who died 14 Feb 1864, and Alice E. who died 05 Dec 1873. The girls are buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Row C-Stone 21. POSSIBLE PARENTS: John Case, died 20 Feb 1864, aged 74 years, 8 months and 19 days, buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Row C-Stone 24.
