        CASE--At her home near Lake Gage, May 3,1883, Mrs. Permelia 
Case, aged 63 years, 8 months and 28 days. Mrs. Case and her husband, 
Furman Case, in company with H. R. Williams and wife, came from Orleans 
county, New York in 1836 and settled in Steuben county.  They are now 
all dead, Mrs. Case being the last to depart this life.  In 1849, her 
husband died and she alone took upon herself the responsibility of 
raising a large family.  She was the mother of eight children, five of 
whom survive her, and are all residents of Steuben county.  Her life was 
one of toil and usefulness, and it can truly be said of her that she was 
a mother in the highest sense of the term.  She was a member of the 
Baptist church for nearly forty years.
