Lorenzo D. Caswell

Died, at the residence of L. R. Estes, in the township of Girard, Jan 16, 1893, Lorenzo D. Caswell, in the 82nd year of his age.

Mr. Caswell was born in Floyd, Oneida Co., N. Y., July 7, 1811.  While he was quite young his parents removed to Onondaga Co., and soon after to Allegany Co., N. Y., where he lived until after his marriage to Miss Eliza Holt in 1833.  They soon removed to Conneaut, Ohio, living there
some three years, then made their home in Fremont Township, Ind.  Five children were born to them, of whom one son and one daughter are still living.  His wife died at Fremont n 1845 or 1846.  Mr. Caswell was married again in February 1847, to Mrs. Mary E. Estes, of Allen, Michigan, who survives him, but is in feeble health.  He was converted about 1842 and united with the Methodist Episcopal church.  He was class leader for many years at Fremont, and also for several years after he came to Quincy, where he has lived for more than thirty years passt enjoying the confidence and esteem of all who knew him.  His experience of the love of Christ was very clear, and he has ever since been faithful in the Master's service.  The infirmities of age have kept him from public worship for some time, but his interest and faith continued steadfast to the end.  The immediate cause of his death was paralysis.

In the absence of his pastor the funeral service was conducted by Rev. H. P. Lane, at the M. E. church in this village on Wednesday afternoon, Jan 18th, 1893.
