     Elom Chapin, 83 years old, died Saturday night here at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. J. Caswell, 268 North Hudson Street.  His body was taken to Fremont, Ind., where funeral services were held today from the home of his son, Dr. Chester Chapin.  Burial was in the old cemetery at
Fremont.

     Elom Chapin, aged 83 years, died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nellie Caswell, in Coldwater, Mich., where he had been very ill the past month.  The remains were brought to the Beams Funeral Home and later taken to the home of his son Chester E. Chapin, where the funeral
services were held, Monday at 2 o'clock with the Rev. U. S. Hartley officiating.  Interment in Old Cemetery.  He also leaves two other sons, Lester Chapin of near Montgomery, Michigan and Dr. B. F. Chapin of Fremont.
